You can have a number of IL-2 copies installed on the same pc because the game doesnt use registry entries.
You could keep a 4.10 DBW game while using a modact 4.12 version at the same time (if you got the diskspace and the broadband to download and use 10Gb modpack)...or wait for the 4.12 based DBW 2.0.

Your suggestion is indeed an interesting one, but the only working version I have is the no-disc 4.12.2 

Other than that I have the original IL2 disc version which I can't get to install.

better cockpits (BE2c, Rolland DII,  AEG, Aviatik, Oeffag CII):

Previously these planes had all kinds of eclectic franken cockpits with double struts/wires and other weirdness, these cockpits are still not perfect but lot better then their predecessors. Also added the Nieuport17 cockpit to the 10 and 11 versions.
