Great stuff, thank you. Is there an easy way of using the much improved "no cockpit view" flight instruments in DBW 1.71 itself?
Slowed my program to a crawl, to be fair I am running an OLD AMD 64 3700+ CPU. Disabled the new #DBW 1916 folder and copied the cockpit files to the original #DBW 1916 and that work fine. What files would be stressing my old guy?~
I have a 7 year old hp laptop with the p4e chip with 4gig ram works good.Slowed my program to a crawl, to be fair I am running an OLD AMD 64 3700+ CPU. Disabled the new #DBW 1916 folder and copied the cockpit files to the original #DBW 1916 and that work fine. What files would be stressing my old guy?~
I am using a 6 year old pc and I have no problems.
Follows the instructions, put a "-" in front of the original folder of DBW-1916 and then the other folder (VPmedia new stuff) will
have the game in it. That is the one ou will use. If you want to revert back to the other version, put a "-" minus sign in front of
VPmedias folder. Its that easy.
I can also think that your machine needs to do a de-fragmentation of the harddrive disc so as to clean out your
junk off of it and put all your programs and games running in a smooth order.
Once you do it, your pc becomes ALOT faster.
It works on mine ;)

Let me finish up some more engines and coloring and then I send them to you.
This is probably my finger trouble, but although this excellent update is working fine for me I have only a limited choice of maps, not including the WW1 ones. They're all in my "normal" DBW1.71 list but I haven't been able to get them in 1916, despite copying the all.ini file across. Any ideas welcome, thanks.
Yes, that was it. The file was in DBW but not DBW1916. Thanks for the help and the immediate fix...one of these days I'll understand what does what!
I have a silly question to make.
Since I am still at work, I am unable to install and test this new update on my
personal computer at home...
For the new Camel Airplane that comes with this package, do we have to write
the air.ini, plane_ru and weapons_ru, and add lines as it says on the "Read-Me" ?
Or do I just overwrite everything that is on the previous version of this package
and I am ready to fly ?
This mod does:
-AAA cant see through the clouds above the fog(cloudtype>= 4)
-AAA cant see in the night without searchlightes
-AAA in the night start shooting with a much smaller distance without searchlightes. distance depends on the illumination.
-AAA dont shoot in bad weather, if friends planes are near
-AAA have new firing logic from ships
-AAA is now shooting up to 1 meter above the ground
-AAA now you can "scare enemy AAA"
Btw good news: Fokker D.VII lost its long exhaust pipe.
http://www.sas1946.com/images/imageshit/img84/5683/dbwnew3.jpg
Very nice skins. They're really needed for DBW1916.
But you could switch to OpenGL at least for taking screens, your work would look even better.
Why you running in DirectX?
Btw do you know about status of Fokker E.III and Dr.1 projects?
How do you switch to OpenGL for Screenshots? ::)
GL=Opengl32.dll
QuoteHow do you switch to OpenGL for Screenshots? ::)
go to conf.ini,
and set GLprovider to this :Code: [Select]GL=Opengl32.dll
Milan, I think you should change your handle to "SuperMan" that is at least twice today that you have come to my rescue. I'm starting to feel like Lois Lane. :P Thanks for the tip.
.... Sadly I think I'll only download it when it is in a more 'finalized' state, unless I get the chance to do so this summer.
Reason for that is that the download is quite big, my net very slow and your updates very frequent ;D
I have a series of questions about DBW_1916. In no way should these questions be construed to be criticism, please. What I see here is pure art and I'm so impressed I have goosebumps. Seriously.
I decided that today I would go balloon busting..... but alas no balloons, or dirigibles, or zeppelins, .... I'm hoping that these are WIP???. I know somebody had to have thought of it, but that is a really different thing to model than an aeroplane, and much less important. Hmmm might be a good thing to start learning how to model on, (he said to himself).
EDITED: Figured out the Balloon scenario. FMB, add an Observation balloon. Launch game. Explosive Fun!
More Editing: Barrage balloons make even bigger explosions..... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. So much fun, so little time.
Another question, and yes the statement above was meant as a question. I looked at my #DBW_1916 folder and chased down the air.ini file. Inside I found a bunch of the WW2 aircraft. If I were to delete them, the Bf-109s, FW-190s, A-20s, etc. would I suffer the slings and arrows of needed to do a complete install? I want to avoid that but, I really only want planes in the 1909 to 1934 era in my #DBW_1916 set up.
When using the QMB select my plane, then go to the arming screen, and choose "Air Force", I don't see Britain, nor Great Britain, nor "Limeys", only "RAF (Postwar)". So if I want to represent Great Britain in a QMB jaunt, I choose RAF (Post War). This must be a remnant of cloning from the original game?
The people who worked on this mod, wow, you should all be so proud of what you have accomplished! Stunning!
QuoteHow do you switch to OpenGL for Screenshots? ::)

Thank You MilanTarik 8)
At the present moment I am at work and cannot do that on my other pc with the game.
But I will check tomorrow to see if I have already done this before to the Conf.ini with this new
game installation. I believe I have done it already.
I would not be surprised if my screenshots still come out crappy, specially if I make a very
close-up image,
afterall I am working with a Jurassic Era computer.... it´s almost 8 years old ;D I just got to kill
it one of these days and put it out of its misery :(
Perhaps do it like a cool Rock-Star and throw the whole thing out of a Hotel room window and
see it crash on the ground! ;D BANG!
btw, vpmedia and max (and all others involved) :
Awesome job you've done there :) Well done ;D
Sadly I think I'll only download it when it is in a more 'finalized' state, unless I get the chance to do so this summer.

a bit more feedback -
okay, narrowing it down, seems like there was a problem with the files in the Cache folder.
when using Mat Manager, we are advised to keep ClearCache=0 in the conf file.
i'm actually not sure if it's a must, or even what the negative effects of not doing it that way are.
so as not to mess with the files in there, i renamed/disabled my Cache folder, created a new, empty Cache folder.
i also disabled the CoopRegt folder that MAT manager uses, and the all markings and roundels now appear as they should.
of course, i now lose my MAT markings, so this isn't the viable option for me.
edit: okay, still checking things out here, it seems that between my fiddling about with the Cache folder and CoopRegt folder, i now seem to have all markings working, MAT and WW1.:D
still gonna test a bit more, but i think it's definitely something interfering between the MAT files in the CoopRegt folder and the Cache folder files.
whatever it was, it's fixed for now, but i'm going to try and recreate the problem to see if i can further identify where this markings problem is coming from.
i'll get back to you if i find anything relevant.
are you using MAT manager in your install, Istvan?
I have a problem with this update. When it is 85% loading the game suspended. What is wrong? Or what do I do ? :'(
Hi Sky barons :)
Question
I adopting this to my UP3 and notice wheels are spinning in the wrong direction with few planes ,and all this "SYP" planes have strange issue with smoke flying around cokpit when using Gurner FX , it is the same in DBW or only in my UP ??

Hello Boomer & vpmedia,
I downloaded the "dbw1916_update_v1b4-VPMedia.rar" package yesterday. I have the same map problems as RedSpade, and I also do not have the DesertTree.tga file that Boomer says is necessary. My #DBW_1916\MAPMODS\maps\_Tex/Trees\ folder contains two files named DesertTreeTL.tga and DesertTreeTrunkTL.tga, but no DesertTree.tga. Can either of you guys tell me where to get DesertTree.tga, please?
Hi Sky barons :)
Question
I adopting this to my UP3 and notice wheels are spinning in the wrong direction with few planes ,and all this "SYP" planes have strange issue with smoke flying around cokpit when using Gurner FX , it is the same in DBW or only in my UP ??
I really doubt that this would be compatibele with UP3 and Gurner FX.
I had to redesign a smoke mod in order to work with planes flying at such max speed which in ww2 was takeoff/landing speed. Also consider that these are frankenplanes.
Plus I can tell from the DH.2 aircraft skin that its not my update installed.
I have a problem with this update. When it is 85% loading the game suspended. What is wrong? Or what do I do ? :'(
Still not working. So how to enable DBW. He writes to me in the bottom corner DBW 1.7b.
But everything is ok because I like to have written after installing DBW 1.7. Just as switching on seloktorze the DBW 1916 DBW wrote then 1.6. But I think it should be. So I do not know what to do next is the DBW 1916 DBW with this update in 1916 :-[
Any suggestions can you know what's going on ? ???
Superb stuff, Max, in every detail... 8)
DBW-1916 wasnt updated since 1.6, only DBW was updated to 1.71.
DBW-1916 wasnt updated since 1.6, only DBW was updated to 1.71.
So I update the DBW 1916? To 1.7 and then what? Update to the 1916 update DBW v1b4? But the DBW 1916 in itself is probably version 1.6 only ?
Max, it's wonderful. Istvan and you are doing an amazing work on DBW 1916. I'm very grateful to both of you :)You're welcome, mate!

WW1 for IL-2 is really starting to take shape now, thanks largely to vpmedia and max's skins.
you guys deserve a medal for this great work! :D
I just fell off my chair... Ka-Boom! ;D Nice collection, I like seeing them all together. No tease ,will eventually.Ive sent a to PM to vpmedia for his input. 5 Tanks -
Stop teasing us Wingflyr!!! Bring the Big Army into DBW-1916.
The new airplanes need new tank targets to bomb ;D
Those cool tanks need new skins with correct camouflage from WW1.
Awesome work, I really like what you did for IL-2 vehicles in general.
Unfortunately I cant do java programming, me and Max are just enthusiastic ww1 fan texture guys.
This project desperately needs a java programmer (lot of bugs in java code) and maybe a 3d expert with cockpit building knowledge. Without them we can mostly make cosmetic changes.
Currently beside us the only ongoing project is 1.8 DBW, CrazyFlak & Birdman, so I cant even do a shanghaiing on other teams members cause there arent any.
Nice collection WingFlyer

P.S Max, I love the little bloke sticking his head out of that tank hatch. ;D
There was a Fokker DVII and an SE5a made flyable in the game before Canvas Knights was re-directed onto the Vehicle Simulator VSF Engine. They were not finished models but they were well on the way to being finished. Given that Deutschmark is still developing CK for the VSF Engine I cant imagine that he would agree to release anything for DBW-1916.
Lanchesters of the RNAS in the desert.

Still have LODs to add in.
It would be appropriate to have both Desert and Summer skin versions for this perhaps.
Two weeks to be sure.
It would be nice to have the Rolls Royce Armoured Car as well.
The RR was the most numerous British armoured car, the Lanchester being second.
Can you imagine the conversation in Ministry of Defence procurement dept.
"We need to form an Armoured Car Squadron"
"Ok. I'll go out and buy 16 Rolls Royce's straight away" :D
Credits for all this WW1 stuff I was not given, but I will list here names who I know worked on the original DBW 1916 pack which was introduced with the DBW 1.6 version:
UP~Boomer, Zuti, Sergei "Oknevas", Uufflakke/Lejo, Dimus, Agracier, Asheshouse, Beowolff, RAF209_Benge , Skipper and T.Dasche, CirX,
Please alert me to missing names.
It seems your work on this Vpmedia has brought out a lot of other WW1 stuff. Good to see that there is such interest and enthusiasm for the genre.
Thanks again to all the modders, skinners and artists for their hard work and on-going dedication.
I have a DBW 1.71 installation which includes the DBW 1916. I had updated the DBW 1916 with v1b5 . But I do not get the 3 Loading Screens as posted by vpmedia in his thread. Other things seem to work fine till now. I find the Gotha IV bomber still having the TB3 dashboard. But "Rise of Flight" youtube video on it shows a more accurate one. Also I have a basic fundamental question. Since these planes are long dead and very few of them (original/flying replica/nonflying replica) remains in museum and private collection is it at all possible to know what was their cockpit like (historically accurate). Also photographs were rare in those days and also the chance of survival of engineering drawings is slim after two great wars.
Some of those new smart AI pilots are very agressive aces. Whomever did that change to the AI pilots, Thanks!

@ Hawker17, the AI crashing into the ground issue was fixed already, my WW1 planes seldom crash into the ground anymore (note, i say seldom, not never - still, way better than previously, when they would pretty much all commit hara-kiri for no apparent reason...:D)
Really, i don't share the same experiences. :-[ Even when i setup a scramble mission with a Fokker E3 as wingman for example, he mostly crashes into the ground short after takeoff.
They crash because of a simple reason... they are AI rookies!
Unexperienced young pilots fresh out of school and put into cockpits to fly.

vpmedia,
Brilliant work! I love the new tanks and ships. I would like help with one thing. Although I did select "markings on", the roundals don't show up on the Camel and the aircraft's letter only shows up on the right side of the plane. However, the flash on the rudder shows up on both sides. If you've got a solution for this, it would make v1b5 perfect for me :).
Cheers,
Riptide
I don´t thnk I will ever go back to making models and dioramas either, this is just too cool to see! ;D
I sometimes really do feel like a big daft kid in the world's best toy shop - know what I mean???
All these will be reality nearly in future, as the modders progress in the development of this lovely sim. And as someone say there, the only limitation is our imagination.
Great skins. The pilot's skin, with that WWI helmet is great too, but doesn't pilot look a little too big for that small plane?http://forum.aviaskins.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=16410&d=1302096298
Murdoc, I dont understand what youre saying mate.
If its important write in russian and we'll get somebody to translate it!
(I used your great bmp skin to test N.11 damage if thats what you mean.)
vp you forgot to add the Inf columns.... :(
and it is possible only for cars technics.ini
vp, the infantry are in in DBW...it was a matter of taking the script and technics files, which I have and putting them into DBW.
If you downloaded my WW 1 columns download
you will find the infantry scripts. at the beginning of both chief files and the technics files
I should restate...no there is no moving infantry in either UP or DBW
However there are infantry troops...it was getting them moving that required getting the scripts...they are available...and I have sent them to you.
UPDATE!
added moving infantry and infantry columns (thanks for the help to RAF209_Benge!)

MissionPro Combo also affects fmb, not only qmb (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,18353.0.html). I checked classcheck.exe, but it didn't helped much (not enough knowledge to find right one in 200+ conflicts). I'll try to contact somebody for help.

Deactivating all mods with jsgme and activating them again removed the problem. Shame on me for complaining without serious reason, and big thanks for all who helped!
Just one more question. I've asked this before, but question probably was lost during discussion: for me, Rumpler in dbw1916 has two machineguns firing in different directions (left one at ~25 degree angle to the left). Is this problem of my instalation (again), or some minor mistakes were made while creating that plane? If later - can this be corrected in next patch?
T schede/Skipper was the creator of the Rumpler....you could check his own website, or message him from here
This is getting so good yall :) Can't wait for all these new plane are in 1916 and we get some new campaigns.Amazing that this old sim has been given a new life.I was a hardcore Red Baron guy and it took me a long time to switch over to IL2 but i made the switch. Now I can have the best of both worlds. Thanks so much for all the hard work and long hours,I m sure it's a labor of love.
http://www.sas1946.com/images/imageshit/img831/7632/dbw1916albatrosdiii.jpgOh my God! Where please?!?!
I didnt want to say a lot about WIP projects because theres always the possibility that some real life issues comes up and they dont get released. But in my personal opinion we're looking good for Fokker E.III, Fokker Dr.1 and maybe the Albatros D.III. The Aviatik is ready to include, I removed polish text from the cockpit and made a temporary default skin for it. The Nieuport 28 and the Lohner/Macchi seaplane also got a good chance to get included soon.

Nice to see that you're happy with the mod! Some good ground action will be great :D WW1 was much more then the air war. Hoping that one of the fantastic campaign builders can make a few with all the new planes and ground objects.
I found a cavalry mod (I think it by Skipper or Epervier) and put them into columns, I'll put it into the next update.
Also reworked all the old vehicle columns to use the ww1 style vehicles, so you'll have those even in older missions or qmb.

I have what might most likely be a stupid question but why do I have WW2 planes on airfields and ww2 tanks when I set up a quick missions in DBW 1916? ???
DUH....

The Aviatik still needs some work in that regard, as well as its FM and Cockpit. It seems to me that is currently still only a Beta?
As for the E.III, Nieuport 11 and Camel, those are all radial-engines aircraft and so the fuel supply is not gravity-fed and therefore constant.

Aha ... thanks for the explanation - as I said, I'm not all that well versed in true nuts and bolts technical matters ... this bit of explanation helps a lot to better understand how things work ... for many it is probably an obvious thing ... I gotta learn these things the hard way ... ha ha
Thanks
You might notice that even the Spitfire Mk.I and Hurricane Mk.I suffer the same problem for the same reason. The Bf-109 E did not, however, because of fuel injection
To be honest I never bother modders with asking for release dates because it never makes things go faster.

Sorry, but I have a small problem. The Friedichshafen now uses S55 skins, and I don´t know how to change that, because I had a file with its skins and now it does not work. Any idea? By the way, the rest, simply marvelous.
There's no B-25 in this mod, you are trying to use a QMB mission not meant for DBW-1916.Thanks for your help, vpmedia. I seems that problem was in QMB mission "None" for blue side on Atlantik_Bay_of_Biscay Map. Other mission types (and other maps) work fine.
Use the ones with WW1 prefix because planes need to have their speed adjusted lower than in normal DBW.
Excellent job of making IL2 that much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) And to think I was using my game disk for a coffee coaster :oI can take it that you figured out how to download the files then.Vpmedia and all the modders have outdone themselves BIG THANKS to all. ;) ;)
I don't know what told me to come back for a second look at this game, but I am sure glad I did ;D

-------- HERE IS SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This new package DBW 1916 update v2 (UPDATED! 10.10) is missing some skin folders for
your game that you might want to add by hand, so later you can add more skins to your new WW1 airplanes.
No missing skin folders here!!
You need the update + the patch + skinpack and you will have all the "missing" skin folders. ;)
Hi, WWHappy. Your idea works perfectly. It makes the update incredibly easy. I've just finished making three WWI missions. In the last, I shot a two seater down with an Albatross DIII. It brings back memories of Red Baron 3D days in 2002-5.Glad I could help David :) Ya I am having a ball flying Il2 1916 It brings back some fond memory's of our old Red Baron 3d days. I am trying to get my squadron up to speed on this version so we can play some online coops or Dogfight missions. It is possible if every one has the same version, Just need someone that knows how to make Coops and dog fight missions for 1916 . I have great connection and will host the missions and we all can direct connect and play our hearts out. Anyone that wants to play will be welcome. I can even put it up on hyperlobby and host from there then any one can join.
cheers
David Prosser
Would anybody be interested in this sound mod I have developed for the Albatros?

Just d/loaded and installed updates and patch. All fine from my side too... What a great game we are enjoying, thanks to you, dedicated people! Cheers (once again) 8)
Alotef, good job on the Albatross sounds.....their great......thanks....... ;)Thanks mate. :)
The Young Aviator lay dying,
And as in the hangar he lay, he lay,
To the mechanics who round him were standing
These last parting words he did say -
(Chorus):
Take the cylinders out of my kidneys,
The connecting rod out of my brain, my brain,
The cam box from under my backbone
And assemble the engine again.
Then go ye and get me school bus
And bury me out on the Plain, the Plain,
And get them to write on my tombstone
Some formulae out of Duchesne.
When the court of Enquiry assembles
To find out the reason I died, I died,
Then say I forgot 'twice Iota'
Was the minimum angle of glide.
Oh had I the wings of an Avro
Then far into Holland I'd fly, I'd fly,
I'd stop there until the war's over
And laugh at you blighters on high.
And now I suppose I'll be joining
The Flying Corps up in the sky, the sky,
Where they all understand 'twice Iota'
And they all have got wings that will fly!
Some nice pics there Happy The Camel looks good in any skin!Ya I know :-[ that's my head and face on that pilot :) I have a friend that made that pilot for me years ago and just don't have the heart to not use it :-\I am working on one with a WW1 helmet with my face. I wish I could put on the silk scarf like ROF but don't think that's possible yet.
But your pilot looks a bit out of his time zone :)

Nice work with the small details, I really like it.

Updated Version of the Summer on the Somme 1916 (Allied Side)
This file contains a new STD that attempts to fix some of the errors with the old STD columns...no longer does the WW Central Column A and Inf column self destruct...however I have not been able to solve the problem of the WW1 Central Column A appearing as allied onthe FMB...
You will need to this new STD to play the new
Summer over the Somme...
As the New STD also includes two new columns

Yes, I have tried to save the new default airplane skin with the name skin1o.tgb (at 4,00 Mb - exactly the same) with the Alpha channels box checked.
Forget it man :( I have tried all sorts of tricks to make the default skin to have the machine-guns look proper with those holes in them and nothing is working withmy Photoshop.
It seems I have not found a better way to make Alpha-Channels for these skins yet :'( Poor me
There has to be a simpler way to create this but I have not found it yet.
All in all, I think it looks wonderful as it is now, Max.
This is true, just look at the vent on the leading edge of the wing on F4 Phantom in-game.
I friendly disagree in that tgb alpha layer is only for damage holes (that's true) but you can have also structural holes in there (think in turrets or canopy alpha cuts, but also other types of parts can be cutted using this alpha layer, provided that they not interfere with damage holes.

Why does the Fokker DVII not look right? Shouldn't the prop be lower and the nose longer? Like in this link? http://www.wwiaviation.com/fokker.html
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but this topic has over 31 thousand views! :o So VP when are you going to let loose of that new DR I I see you've been flying around eh? ;D

Friends,
please stop requesting for more airplanes, while we already have so many to enjoy at this moment.
Amazing! It looks like a brand new game! I'm really looking forward to future WWI planes.
Btw would it be possible to make the smoke/fire effects work in DBW 1.71 also, I like them a lot.
Hi, Mike, I was talking to MURDOC after looking at Skipper's WIPs. There is a strutter, and Snipe among them.
cheers
David
Nice poster. Is it an original period poster or did you make it?
Mike (Alotef)Hehe, thanks Ian! Go get 'em!
Excellent little soundset really sets the tone for a bash with the Hun.
Ian
Did you know this 1916 aircraft had electronic equipment inside?
yes, it did.
I am sure that the RFC used radio as early as 1914 to talk to ground artillery and direct their guns onto enemy positions. I belive it was in the form of a Morse code sender. Cannot recall where I read or heard this....
Hi, agracier. That's an interesting story. The Zeppelin that was shot down by a water/ship launched Camel in 1918 had a radio. It's HQ was trying to find out where it was. And it wasn't answering radio calls.
Just to show how complicated and bulky all this early material was, here are a few photos from period magazines showing telegraph relays, field phones and a command center to coordinate against Zeppelin attacks.
Hi, Ian, it was a long time ago. Circa 1970. Probably Biggles Pioneer Air fighter. That's the one where he's flying FE2ds. It might be hard to find now. Not very PC ::). Some are currently in print though. From memory. Biggles of 266.
Didn't he start out flying FE2ds though? Don't even think of selling it, or giving it away. Sooner sell your grandmother, or the family silver ;)
cheers

How bout some Early spring/late fall, Winter Fur for German pilots...
WWHappy do not do that. Erase that post. Those skins and pilot-skins are still available at Mission4Today and you should ask permission from original artist. He is a very well known .So sorry I didn't mean any harm and did not know they were available. post removed

I have a problem.
Part #2 will not open.
I downloaded all three parts and placed them in a holding folder.
Part #1 opened fine with 7 Zip
Part #3 the same no problem.
Part #2 after 4 down loads says the same thing when I try to unzip it.
" can not open files as archive"
Thanks for the help.
All those WW1 airplanes have a very original design to them. I like this one too.
All those WW1 airplanes have a very original design to them. I like this one too.
Indeed the newest addition is a great looker, really special and fragile looking.
Here are a few more original designs from the Great War.
I don't think these were produced in any quantities, but they are quite striking in design, especially the SPAD SA.3 with its split fuselage design with the prop between parts.
What an idea to come up. And the Hansa-Brandenburg model with an unusual strut configuration.

Very nice work Max ..skins and template look great :)
THANK YOU Gio and Western!
You guys are Top-Gun!
Thank you modders for making IL2 more than a drink coaster ;)
And to the skinners and template makers , my hat and goggles are off to ya!
Thanks a lot Murdoc! I noticed one minor issue: the BE.2C gears dont touch the ground, the plane is ~40 cm above the ground.
No its not a shame because this is an OFFLINE MODPACK!It is a shame if I can't play it the way I wish.
Nice Max, any more where that came from? I can't quite make out the artist's name.
Wow, very nice skins! Congrats, max! 8) But, what that X-Wing is doing here ??
My Boy's of 60 squadron fly this ww-1 build on line 3-4 times a week and fly the other theatre's of operations 3-4 times a week as well...DBW works like a charm as i host and still manage frame rates in the high 80's....we are a mature,no nonsence squad in our 50's 60's 70's and beyond...i have been hosting this great sim for 10 yrs now and could not find adequate words to describe the gratification we feel for the modding community and modders who have so willingly shared so that all can enjoy the fruites of their labor..
Google PD's Boy's of 60 should you have an online interest....Any and All are welcome...Let it be said up front,I simply put will not tollerate whiner's,bitcher's,immature behaviour,or anyone who causes conflict within our close knit group..ALL are welcome and start with a clean slate....YOUR actions dictate whether YOU remain a member in good standing or are on the outside looking in...I do run a tight ship and intend to keep it as such...
I post this here to let it be known that any il-2 build will work on line....
PD
Yes Liskek. but surely that would not be imprinted onto the guns... its a bit like a left and right painted onto ones shoes...........!! ???
Ian
Wow, I did not expect that! :D
~Mike
Sorry to be such an utter noob, but I thought I catch up with DBW 1916 v2, but I don't understand what to do with the files "DBW1916_v2.7z.001" and "DBW1916_v2.7z.002"? :-\
I just get an error when I try and open them (after renaming them) in 7zip... :o
. though it's difficult to get past that pic mate, wot in gods name is going on there ? Its not photoshopped is it ? ??? ??? ???
It's war and anything can happen. A sudden call to man the planes while you're in the showers? Or maybe just a joke photo? I've several photos of what you'd call latrine humor from during the war - group photos of soldiers squatting over communal pits and thinking it all a big joke. Or maybe the fellow was just a fervent FKK'er ... ? .... ha ha

Lately I failed all big installations in DBW and Deleted my whole DBW install with all my new QMB missions due to be published, I am f*PiiiiP*ing stupid I cant believe I did that thing again in eager to get this pack to work.

I agree but first you'd need to make lots of new ww1 style tents and hangers. Placing them on the Channel and Westfront maps is not a big issue although it takes a lot of time. If you want to go historic then its a nightmare to find 1914-18 period photos of those airfields.
the Felixstowe hack skins look SUPERB!! 8)
We have the West40 map, that is pretty close. We need to add the frontlines, but Agracier and myself are already working on it. I need a place to play with seaplanes!
I have an SFS of all the planes (AIRCRAFTs folders contents) of the DBW1916 (it is 286Mb against 900Mb) and I tested it and basically everything is working properly.
If somebody has a shared resource to upload it I can post the file. But I don't have anywhere to upload it such a big file by myself.
The motto they used to say in WW1, is
"we will only give you a guarantee of 3 months to live flying these planes, after that, its on pure luck if you
survive any longer". What a cool way to recruit new pilots. ;D AAAAAHAAHAHAHAH!

I hate those frankenplanes and I'd love to get them replaced by something good looking and authentic.
If you want to do more work for this pack I'd be happy to include it.

In my mod I have resized at 92/95% the pilot MHS, but in many case is the pilot position to generate defects that make it seem like the wrong proportions, I believe that reducing by one third the size is still a little too much, does anyone know the basic dimensions of the original model (average height of the pilot is in IL2, 1.85 m? 1.75m?, 1.90m?).
On the same note...it would not hurt if some one who knows how to work with .tga files to actually make a real plate for the Sopwith Camel...I mean really you have had that plane for two years...imported it from a totallly different game and you never once thought about spending a day or so making .tga files for the skin?.. do I sense a volunteer here, "would it not hurt if you thought about spending a day or two" learning to contribute more than criticism ...... ;)
I think there are a lot of people wishing to see Strutter compleated. Well, I don't think there is any one wishing that it would be left uncompleated. And it is verry sad no one takes honorable job of compleating it.Great video Valkas! :o
To clear the air after not verry pleasant discussion, here is some toccata with B.E.2 and Eindeckers.

Great work now a question did you fix the gallopia ww1 map or do we still have to do it
How can I install these type of clouds into all my other maps or the entire game?
Beautiful clouds 8)
I want that in ALL my maps.
Whats wrong with good old fashioned file dates? I mean look inside the 7z and you'll see when the folder was created.
The main thing is that if you dont have all 4 files your install is out of date.

Hey, how about adding lozenge to the ballons?!
Yes, it´s true.
I would not have believed that idea if I did not see a picture of it. Archie found and showed me a rare photo of German
balloons with Lozenge paint-schemes on them ???
Now imagine how long they took to paint that balloon with all those little square colors?! AAAAHAHAAHAH! :D Its just crazy!
Some mindless WWI-ish action, with a twist:

Its all working fine this end, Love the new prop on the SE5a but I am still a little unsure as to how accurate that is.
I see a lot of photos with the two bladed prop :-\
I feel we should have both of the options. (just stirring it up a little) ;D

Screenshots complements of Bravo who is beta testing the map ;)
Over top of Vimy
A Military Atlas of WWI
From memory, Vimy Ridge was only 120 ft high. However, it offered good observation to whoever held it.
Yes,it is does not look much more than a 120 feet high, but being so flat around there for 360 degree's Man can you see a long way in each direction
This is what i got for the next patch:
Caproni Ca.42
Zeppelin Staaken R.VI
Weapons patch
Hansa-Brandenburgs (12)
Farman MF.11's (3)
WW1 West front full map
The only thing I need to wait for is the slot for the Farmans.
Plus I need to do a lot of testing. Imho in a week I can release patch #6.
Then a bit later all the patches will be unified into a single 7z.
I uploaded the files so you dont have to wait
You really have been the driving force behind 1916 VP. If you had not have pushed so hard there would not have been such progress. Thank you and thank you to ALL the great modders who have contributed to this. Without all you this may have just been a memory.
Now, if some one could create a mod that would give me more hours in a day to allow me the time I need to play I would be very happy... :D
It would be cool if all the little towns in "no man's land" were decimated instead of looking so new and spiffy at the start of every campaign. But I don t know if that is even possible with out a great deal of work.
small update for Western Front map in both 2048 HD and 1024

Out of curiosity max - these are photoshopped screenshots, or are they captures of how you've managed to get your game looking while in-game? I know that with the gapa gamma mod it's possible to achieve all manner of effects ... some of the warm, golden toned landscapes look quite effectively like period color photographs as made by the Autochrome Lumiere process ... the only thing yet needed are those little random grains of odd primary colors spread like noise throughout those old photos ...
Anyway, if you can duplicate that while in-game, it would be great if you could initiate us to the settings ...
Thanks for the update!
At the moment I am still painting a generic version Albatros D.III + D.VI for ALL the Jastas that existed in WW1. That way
I just found this cool aerial photo of a German airbase in WW1 ...

Notice how they placed the hangar tents on that airfield. Its very interesting to see this.

At the moment I am testing some new changes to my games visuals in my maps and skins. ... Some of these things could also be used in WW2 era maps. I will test them next week.
I am making overall changes like new cobblestone roads, new train tracks,
Cobblestone roads are certainly great for WWII era roads ...
Max, you've been King of Plywood for some time .......
Now you are King of Canvas ! :D

I am more amazed about 1916 every day ;D fantastic job from every one that contributes to this project :)Hello Tom!

;D Put your jaw back up dude, because its still a WIP.
Not finished yet.
thats a nice post Max of the mid flanders front, has Amiens been fixed? because it was full of unfinished textures
has Amiens been fixed? because it was full of unfinished textures
The problem is that the java programmers who can make slots left, back in the day I talked to wflyer about those tanks but there was nobody around to import them into the game as new moving vehicles.
If not for DreamK we would not have made much progress this year, I'm really thankful to him.
Currently I'm hoping to get at least the 6 Farmans into the game because theyre needed for early war scenarios.
I really like your efforts that youre making to pretty up the existing dbw-1916 content, thats a good direction to follow when theres no new stuff to work on.
The Western Front was bad, but the home front was not pleasant either. Those Gotha bombers were
bombing everything

Excuse me if it was discussed, but where are former airships Sikorsky and Gotha IV present in the former version of DBW_1916 , please ?

Very cool. But why camouflage tents? Printed camouflage on textiles didn't exist until the 1930ies in massproduction...

Do I understand clearly, you can use our mods but we cant use yours? I think our team contributed enough aircraft to ww1 hence your attitude is kinda ungrateful.
There was no movement on the Nieuports for a year or more so I decided after long contemplation to release them even in an unfinished state because perhaps someone comes along who can help to do the missing details (motive). You may remember that we contacted you months ago requesting help to finish them. I'm sorry if this makes you angry or something. Do I understand clearly, you can use our mods but we cant use yours? If you rightclick the link you'll get a context menu where you need to select the "Save link as" option.
I almost deleted my DBW setup... but kept it for 1916. I'm glad I did, its very much worth it!
You can also use whatever is in the DBW_1916 in the DBW game version and vice-versa ;)
So in a way, you can create a whole airplane museum using ALL airplanes !
I'll give it a shot with a few. Certain of the ww1 aircraft and objects like wagons and artillery, could be used in later conflicts.

Cool, I added the files of the fix to the patch6 download.
I have 100% of the DBW 1916 planes working in 4.12
they just need to be installed one at a time
I also have all the maps in 4.12
Been wanting to try and get some ships, vehicles and tanks in
but have yet to find the time to do so
Cheers
The original plan was to wait for 4.12 see whats in it then decide about a 4.12 based DBW modpack...
I am using 5.1 and tried to install the Camel and got a crash. What did you do about the ztd folder.
Bravo sent me to this section and just have a question about DBW 1916. I downloaded BigF'nSuperpack 1.71 DBW almost everything worked great the UP/DBW, but DBW 1916 only loaded up to 60% then quit, so my question is do I just delete my 1916 folder then replace it with this download right? I just want to make sure, Thank you.
so my question is do I just delete my 1916 folder then replace it with this download right?
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
step 1. delete your existing '#DBW_1916' folder
step 2. extract the archives into your game folder

In your Modded IL2-1946 game you should have a folder named #DBW and another one named #DBW_1916.
Each folder contains some different mods which can only work when you select that particular game version.
So , for WW1 flying, it is #DBW_1916, and for WW2 flying it is #DBW.
Place inside the #DBW_1916 folder all the update+patches that VPmedia has made available on the first post.
In it there is everything you need to make your game one of the best ever WW1 flight-sims around.
Happy flying! 8)
