Downloaded this mod, thought it looked awesome, but started crashing at 70%.  So had to remove it.

But I'm still crashing at 70% even though I completely removed your entire mod.

Why is this?  Something in your mod ruined my Il-2 1946.

Anything?

[slow claps] nice wording.

Uhm. No.
That's something you did, and that something has to do with faulty .ini editing

Unless you produce evidence to the contrary, this verdict stands :)

I did precisely nothing wrong.  I just removed the lines from the ini like I'm supposed to.  I went through every line of the air.ini and plane.

Everything was as it needed to be.

I removed the mod completely.  I know what I'm doing.  Most of the plane mods on this site cause a crash at 70%, so I do it all the time.

Even after removing this mod, it still crashes.  It is not my fault.

If you're just saying that my Il-2 is ruined forever, barring a complete reinstall, just tell me.

So, sorry to phrase it this way, your verdict is incorrect.

uh. You were faster. I thought I maybe should not comment everything although knowing better, but sometimes I do.

And if I had a cent for each time I have read this phrase:

It is not my fault.

And yet. there you with your flawless install crashing at 70%.

Quote
so I do it all the time.

You write with quite the tone, and yet. What you do not care to show to get actual, and useful help to get this thing moving, is provide a f-ing LOG.
Now that would be something, wouldn't it?

I hardly understood any of that.

But let me reiterate.  Most of the plane mods on this site don't work, so I have to remove them all the time.  Seriously, I do it all the time.

And when I do, my game starts normally.

And I removed this one, and my game still has the same problem.  That means that the problem was with the mod.

I have spent half the night going through every line of the ini's I modified for the install, and can find nothing wrong.

If this is something with which you are familiar, counsel is appreciated.

Provide a Logfile.

(you made a mistake in the process, it's easy as that. You have a hard time accepting it for one reason or another, but that's what all of this will boil down to. Promise)

Hello ponyboy314, unfortunately not all mods work in all installations, depends what game version you are adding them to, some will work across versions, some not. ;)

As has been indicated a 70% CTD is usually a incorrect entry, however, it might not be that exclusively so please be patient and post a log, hopefully that way someone here can get you airborne.

LOG always is needed to provide help!

Read how to get the log here, and the instant log here.

Important: read here which part(s) from the log to post
and how to post it. (code option!)

When you want to post all lines of the logfile use pastebin, read here how to do this:

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Let me put it like this:

First off, I just deleted and reinstalled Il-2 1946.  I patched it to 4.10_01

Never underestimate the value of a fresh start.

I also just installed Ultrapack 3RC4 and Dark Blue World.  Disabled the UP mods in JSGME, all that good stuff.

Tested Il-2 in both.  Works okay.

Now then, to the meat of it...

Instructions on how to install a new plane into il-2 are not complicated.  But here is the skinny.

I put the mod's main folder (the one with 3do in it, for clarification) into the DBW folder, which is in my main Il-2 folder.

I then add the needed lines to the air.ini, plane, and weapons.  No problem there.

But this works about one-third of the time.  The rest of the time, my games crashes at the dreaded 70%, forcing me to get rid of the mod, even though I do the same thing every time.

Any insight?  With my new install, I have not installed any new planes.  Scorched earth to be sure, but this is probably the best stage if I want to get this right.

Oh, and one other thing:

I patched it to 4.10_1 because I keep reading that DBW is not compatible with anything above that.

I looked at this, but it doesn't explain how to access the log so that I can even post it.

Dead end, dead end.
