Change Config in Real Time
« on: October 08, 2011, 01:32:55 AM »

At times adjustment Config.ini in game under concrete iron and needs  strongly gets, it is necessary to change options in Config.ini to restart game, to look result. And so yet you will not receive comprehensible result under the schedule or on a sound.
Therefore I bring to your attention console fashions allowing to change options in already started both working game and viewing, listening AT ONCE results of changes.

Mod works in any version of game.

Installation:
1. A folder with mod to put in folder MODS.
2. In file RC to add a line

@load com.maddox.rts.cmd.CmdCfg NAME cfg \
HELP cfg FULL

Work:
1. In game we cause console Shift+Tab
2. We enter into the console STRICTLY observing the register cfg and we press ENTER
3. We receive in the console the list accessible parameter for kind editing

  ForceShaders1x
  HardwareShaders
  FogLow
  FogHaze
  Forest
  Effects
  Water
  Sky
  LandGeom
  LandDetails
  LandShading
  TexLandLarge
  TexLandQual
  VisibilityDistance
  DrawCollisions
  MeshDetail
  DynamicalLights
  DiffuseLight
  SpecularLight
  Specular
  TexFlags
  TexMipFilter
  TexCompress
  TexLarge
  TexQual
  ShadowsFlags
  Shadows
  MicLevel
  ActLevel
  NumChannels
  SamplingRate
  Speakers
  SoundMode
  SoundEngine
  MusFlags
  MusState
  VoiceVolume
  ObjectVolume
  MusicVolume
  MasterVolume
  RadioFlags
  SoundFlags

4. We choose parameter which we will change. Have for example chosen parameter Water
5. We enter into the console cfg Water 2 and we press ENTER, game having thought second will reboot a picture with options Water 2.
6. We leave the console and we look changes.
7. In the similar way the others are entered and change  parameters. The main thing that input digits corresponded to admissible values for the chosen parameter.  for example for Water it is possible to specify from 1 to 4!!!
8. At a pass in Conf.ini to remain LAST values entered by you!!!!!!!
9. There are two  which aren't accessible in a text variant Conf.ini it

FogLow - fog heights, can be 1 or 2

FogHaze - intensity of a fog, can be from 0 to 4. And 0 it is the MOST DENSE fog

9. The sound as copes introduction and appointment of the necessary parameters.

In detail work given a mod wasn't tested!!! As it was used ONLY for the needs. Study.

I've just been trying it out, but when I'm in the console mod and have typed in a command as shown above, as well as several variations, nothing happens. I always get a 'bad command' message

For instance, I've typed 'cfg water 2'  / 'cfg water=2'  / config water 2'  and so on with a number of other possible permutations. Always get the same bad command message.

So I'm doing something wrong obviously. I did edit the RCU file with the new lines of text instead of the RU file ... which I hope was the correct file to edit.

I must say this looks very interesting and useful, especially with all those otherwise somewhat confusing parameters in the conf.ini that I would otherwise love to tweak, but which are hard to detect changes ...

t might also be interesting if there were a listing of the possible values of all these parameters. And what the scale is, ascending in intensity or descending (like for instance as given here the foghaze which is most dense at 0 instead of 4) ...

NO edit file RCU !!! YES edit file RC !!!
Usually it in folder Files in a root of a directory with game.

If isn't presenting  folder  Files create it. Put there file RC.

default file RC for 4 09M   http://files.mail.ru/VG2C7U    CORRECT  LINK

default file RC for 4 10 1M   http://files.mail.ru/KGBZSR   CORRECT  LINK

NO write   cfg Water=2  !!!!!   Correct write  cfg Water 2   !!!!

OK ... so it's rc then ... which I don't have in my install - which is DBW 1.6 ...

However, that said and downloaded and having opened up rc to take a look inside, I notice that it mounts a whole list of sfs files, which I am surmising must be correct for the version of the game you're playing. Meaning that in DBW there will be a much longer list of sfs files to mount ...

So I suppose I will have to ask, where is the rc file for DBW located? I didn't find anything by doing a search.

Agrecier,
the file is in #DBW\STD and is called .rc. It's the batch used for the program to mount contents. I think that the problem here is a typo error made by carsmaster. Hi orighinal post said this:

@load com.maddox.rts.cmd. CmdCfg NAME cfg \
HELP cfg FULL

there is an incorrect space in the name of the class com.maddox.rts.cmd._CmdCfg. That space (_) interrupts the class name being loaded. So, the correct sentences (I don't know if it will work, but the other for sure not) should be:

@load com.maddox.rts.cmd.CmdCfg NAME cfg \
HELP cfg FULL
