This change made a HUGE impact on my frame rates!
« on: June 28, 2011, 11:13:46 PM »

For those of you who have an Nvidia GeForce card in your computer you will want to verify that "Threaded Optimization" is set to either "auto" (the default) or "off". I had this set to "on" in my IL-2 profile and it caused my frame rates to stay around 30 to 40 frames per second from inside the cockpit. After changing the setting to "auto" or "off", my frame rates jumped to well over 100!!! I was then able to max out every graphics setting in the game and still keep my frame rates at well above 75! I'm using a GTX 460 1 GB card with the latest drivers from Nvidia. Just wanted to post this in the event that it may help some of you.

Cheers,

Jiver

These numbers are with v-sync turned off (I should have mentioned that). Just flew a quick mission on the Smolensk map and hit 200 fps from inside the cockpit....crazy!

Ok so your minimums didn't necessarily go up, but your top end did, right?

I don't know what my minimum frame rate was prior to making the change since I didn't run the benchmark until after. For kicks I'm going to change the setting back and run the benchmark again.

Ok, switched "Threaded Optimization" back on and ran The Black Death again. Min/Max/Average fps are: 9/99/30. This is a huge improvement across the board.

Hello CWMV
Normal situation with VSync on. V  Sync. prevents a FPS rate superior to your screen refresh rate and this to avoid tearing of pictures. So if you have a screen refresh rate of 80hz, your FPS will stay inferior or equal to 80.
By the way ,speaking of comfort , on one screen you won't even notice a difference between 200 and 80 FPS.There is no need for it.Block your FPS to 50 and spare your card for doing other things.
200 FPS is only commercial !.... and for Geeks.
But, of course I may be wrong !

Thanks for the tip, this gave me a big performance improvement as soon as I started it up (TO off, VSync off)!

For those of you who have an Nvidia GeForce card

Sorry if it is obvious but why only for Nvidia GeForce ? I have an ATI card and sometimes have only very low fps, would like to boost it a little bit  ;)
