The hook engages i test it several time with both ai and player control. You won't see any hook movement. The fm is the one used in BAT and in my view is better than the one used in the wip. The only change i made is enabling the hook control. I test landed on the Akagi and also on escort carriers and due to the good handling at low speed is not a problem.

Salutations!

I gave it a few carrier landings, but the hook did not engage.

Also, did the FM change? This one is a lot more responsive and climbs quicker.

the last graph cleared my doubts. I can continue to fly Komet without guilt of being a "cheater".  8)
Mind you that this graph depicts the performance of the plane in a patch that is yet to be released (UP 3.4 P2 HF 24).
The stock airplane does have several issues:
  • Empty weight is slightly too low (1900kg Stock, 1905kg real life - negligible)
  • Takeoff weight is way too low (3400kg Stock, 4110kg real life)
  • Fuel Mass is way too low (1160kg Stock, 2018kg real life)(
  • Fuel consumption is wrong. Stock 4.14.1 FM changed this, but got it wrong too. In real life the Me 163 runs ~7.5 minutes max on full power. Stock 163s can do so for 16 minutes and more.
  • Mach Drag is all wrong. Not that much impact on climb performance, but even more so in level flight as the 163 is strictly mach limited in this case, especially at combat altitude.

Needless to say that the new flight model depicted here uses real life data in all aspects.

As a follow up on a request by Whiskey_Sierra_972 https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,72421.0.html
I noticed that the Nakajima A1N2 was still in a WIP status https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,67328.msg735934.html#msg735934
even though there is an improved version that made is way into BAT-TGA.

I then decided to quickly assemble a standalone version making good use of all the work done by 101tf, CWatson, leforban, Epervier and the BAT team. So all the credit for this work goes to them. My small contribution consisted in reinstating the tail hook and making sure that this model could fly as a standalone mod.

This mod was tested only in BAT and 4.12.2 Modact 5.3. I am sure that it won't fly in 4.09 as the cockpit class is making use of 4.12.2 methods.

Anyway as I dislike to write without test I have tested the Swordfish flare in my BAT 422HF4....

What seem from the flare dynamic is that the high lumen source flatten the colors below it....I think that could be historically correct as flare have a white light that in cotrast with night could give a b&w perception....

Here a couple of screen from Finland BAT QMB , summer map , red none , 02:00 , plane height 500mt....









Moreover in night low light the shadow projected from the objects between POW and FLARE make the dark seem more black by contrast....
