Hello!
I am a new here. Actually i have installed Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 ver. 4.15.1m. I would like to improve this version with new effects, details (clouds, smoke, bullet traces, blood when crew members are hit) and planes (to fly B-17). I have no idea how to start with it, which mods should I install first and where to find them? Is there any tutorial how to improve my game better step by step? Please help!

If I'm not mistaken, the majority of mods here are for 4.12.X.  I think someone has made 4.14 mod-able but I'm not sure about 4.15.  One of the experts will chime in here and clarify.

B-17 is flyable in pretty much any version of the 4.12 version (e.g. HSFX, BAT, VPModpack, Ultrapack etc).

The latest version of IL-2 selector

 will allow you to add mods to 4.15 however here at SAS you won't find many mods compatible with this version. At Aviaskins and FreeModding sites you may find a little more
