TGA not starting.
« on: February 11, 2024, 03:30:05 AM »

Hello community.
I decided at one point to just keep #WAW3 in my BAT D/L (4.2.2 +HFX 4) so I removed all the other #'s..DOF, THA, JTW and I placed them on  my desktop.
However I wanted to restore #TGA, so I moved it back into my main game folder.
I switched from #WAW to #TGA in the selector.exe box, and saved the settings, but when I click on start it briefly shows the little BAT picture and then returns to the selector.exe settings box.
Any help on this very appreciated.

I'm afraid you'll have to use the "Startup_Debugger" included with the Selector.
See here for a video:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16403.0.html

Extract from the instructions for using the "Startup_Debugger" :
If your game crashes before it can create any log output, please double-click "cmd.exe" in your IL-2 game folder, then enter

console 2>&1 | tee startuplog.txt

and hit Enter.
This will create a file "startuplog.txt" in your IL-2 game folder where more detailed error information can be seen.
Additionally, you will see the same log output in the console window.

when you removed the #TGA3 folder did you also removed the folders with the necessary sfs files or you kept them in the main IL-2 folder?

No. I left all the sfs files  in the main game folders in case I would restore the #TGA3 etc

so if the game refuse to start and log is not even initiated then you have maybe corrupted or missing files  starting with the infamous .rc file in the STD folder. for game failing to start I would check just the STD and BAT classes folders. Last thing just in case even if quite unlikely I would check the windows Data Execution Prevention as we had a lot of this lately
