two monitors
« on: January 16, 2024, 12:54:29 AM »

Hello.

This question is not just about "BAT".

I can use two monitors.

When playing games, I only use one monitor.

For example, is it possible to display the "game map" on another monitor?

Wishful thinking but would be great to have.
I suppose having two PCs I could load the same mission and have the map showing (providing aircraft icons weren't needed).

Thank you “genXgamer”.

I am making game videos using "IL2 1946".

Since there is no icon displayed, I would like to know the direction of enemy aircraft that are far away.
I'm capturing and editing the monitor on which the game is displayed, so I'd like to display the mini map on another monitor.

.. .. .. But I guess it's impossible.

Has anybody tried launching a coop mission with the second pc joining but just showing the full screen mission map but not actually participating?

It did cross my mind when I posted earlier today.
Some experimenting coming up this weekend.

I just take a screenshot (or snip) of the map including the waypoints from the briefing screen, then put that on a second monitor. Obviously nothing moves but it's more realistic in that respect.

If you're flying the game in windowed mode, would the following work?....

Play game in Windowed mode which allows you to put it on one of the screens.  Open the map, take a screenshot and copy/paste into MS Paint or equivalent app which you have open on the second screen.
Obviously there are no icons and it is just a digital picture of the map but you would be able to view it while playing the game.   Does that make sense?

I did join battlefields IL-2 server in the past from 2 computers at my friends place to play together on there, him on his PC and me on my Laptop, but to see the map you need to pick a side, hit fly, and bring up the map.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I use 1600x1200 and 1920x1080 monitors.
The game screen is 1920 x 1080, and video recording and capture apps are displayed on a 1600 x 1200 monitor.

If you can display the "mini map" in the game on the left monitor
You can see the direction of enemy planes, so you don't have to move while looking for them.
I thought it would also save time when editing videos.
