Now that's what I call a stash.

That's a great wallpaper of the Repulse leading the Prince of Wales. I don't know much about the force z sinking, will have to do some Googling.

Time to give my hairy sticks a workout...LifeColor acrylics, at least my fleet should be the 100% right colours now.

Busy day cleaning up and feeding the carpet monster. Still nothing fixed to deck. It's getting there slowly. Not long until another colour comes out to play. Dithering over whether to shorten aft funnel as per the real Eskimo - only one way to find out if I can do it...
















Funny old kit, as mentioned. Some really nice details, but it's as if Trumpeter gave up close to a deadline.

As far as I got tonight. I'll tidy up the cammo tomorrow. Almost time to stick everything together. Hopefully, the carpet monster will regurgitate a couple of tiny parts in daylight...

Started highlighting details on superstructure - I'm thinking that shading with a wash would overpower everything, but curiosity might well get the better of me...

A liesurely day touching-up and touching in. Fully armed and everything finally fixed in place.

Thanks to the carpet monster, I used a Starling Models resin pom-pom gun - looks like I'll be using the chunky IBG pom-poms when I get around to the Hunt class destroyers. 

As predicted, curiosity got the better of me and I gave the torpedo tubes a wash - I'll redo them blue tomorrow. 

She's not glued to the base yet, but you get the idea.

Next up, boats and masts. Then it'll be time to think about the dreaded photo-etch.

 There she is built 'out of the box' - well, not quite; I added photo-etch steps and replaced the boats...oh, not forgetting the pom-poms that the carpet monster ate. The decals were nasty, hopefully they'll settle down and look better once the whole thing's touched-in and  matt varnished. I forgot the anchors somewhere along the way, so they'll need painting along with another 101 finishing touches before putting the railings on. Quite a way to go, but the end is in sight...

Well painted, I like these colours, and it looks like a good quality model for it's size looking at the close-up pics.

Apparently that cammo scheme was very effective, as long as it was well-maintained. As for the kit, hmmmm...on the whole, it's very nicely detailed with plenty of moulded on ladders & doors which come up a treat when drybrushed, but no steps or boat davits. Talking of boats, the ones supplied in the kit are of a German type , so I broke into a resin set I'd intenended for something else. Oh, well - it is what it is, and I'm fairly happy with how she's turning out. It's easy to forget that these little fellers are going to be mostly viewed by a MkI eyeball from a distance of one foot away or more, which equate to at least 700 feet in real life.

A nice touch is that Trumpeter ships come with an optional full hull, but I decided when I started this maritime madness that I'd be strictly waterline...never say never, though.

Well, I'd better get those photo-etch railings out and hope that my blades and glue behave today. Stay tuned...

A little progress at last, despite the efforts of my family to encroach upon a 'Me day'.

Minor touch-ups, pre-painted photo-etch railings fixed in place and touched in. The pre-painting makes life easier, but still a pain in the derrière. Worth the effort, though, I can't imagine doing a ship without them now...













Ready for fixing to base, a good squirt of matt varnish, water gel and r-r-r--rig-rigging.

Additionnaly , I am looking for french words used in english language .
So , the word " derrière " is in regular use by english speakers ?

Thanks for kind words, Draken. 

I wouldn't say 'regular', but a native English speaker will know what a derrière is - it's a good way of not appearing vulgar.   

For some reason, the first recognisable French phrase that sprang to mind was "Quel dommage" which is often used sarcastically, in a 'schadenfreude' kind of way. Oh, then there's 'Le grand fromage' - the vast majority of native English speakers will understand that one.
