Von Ricthofen and Brown 1971 Fokker D.VII's
« on: November 29, 2016, 01:55:06 PM »

Hey all at SAS! :))

I hope everyone is keeping well and flying safe!

I have a request and I think it's quite interesting!

In 1971 Roger Corman directed a movie called Von Ricthofen and Brown (Europe) and The Red Baron (UK). In it were the same aircraft that starred in ''The Blue Max'' 6 years previously. The Aircraft in the movie were terribly inaccurate, and the plotline too didn't help much, it's probably why it didn't fare well in the history of WWI movies.

However, I adored this movie for one thing, the planes themselves! In the first few scenes of the Movie they were dressed up in a very attractive silver fuselage, white rudder and dark grey wings with prominent crosses on the aircraft. However they often shot back to outlined crosses to white bannered ones. (Probably due to re-painting for later shots).

Later in the movie they get painted in beautiful paintschemes which reflecting the real Ricthofen Jasta, however with the material that they had and the heavy innacuracies of the movie sadly the schemes wern't real, apart from Richtofens DR.1 for the best of things.

See what you peeps think of this and hopefully something may come out of it! ;D
