This is actually not BAT specific but a general IL-2 1946 issue.
Recording tracks is like playing online (the .ntrk file holds exactly the same data which would be transferred over net).
It's a well known issue of IL-2 1946 that when one player (here: you at the time of playing back the track) has a mismatching "opening canopy" availability to the other player (here: you at the time of recording the track), either the plane in question will show "rich mixture" engine smoke all the time or will be presented with open/missing canopy.
The first issue (rich mixture) happens when the "master" (track recording) has opening canopy available while the "mirror" (track playback) hasn't.
The second issue (open/missing canopy) happens vice versa, when the "master" (track recording) has no opening canopy available while the "mirror" (track playback) has.

There's no easy way to deal with this other than changing the whole netcode (like we did in UP3), but that's out of scope for BAT.
Say thanks to TD for implementing the opening canopy net replication in such an idiotic way.

Now that's a great solution!!!! I'll try it and let you know. Thanks a lot!

Bad news... re-recording didn't work for me. But it was a good idea to try. Thanks again.

Good news. Someone in the VP group has solved the problem. All my old tracks play in VP with the canopies closed! Great relief knowing I don't have to throw out all that combat footage.

The only problem is I need BAT to get the right planes and maps. Now that we know it is possible. We should figure out how to get BAT to do the same.

Does anyone have contacts over in the VP group to find out how they did it?

Didn't I say that this is a matter of mismatching flight models already?
Nice to know that VP, purely by accident, has the same old "non opening canopy" flight models like you've had when you recorded your tracks.
No, we are not gonna change that in BAT.
We've added opening canopies to the regarding planes for a reason.

Just a thought and I may be mistaken, but I would think that old tracks would be full of old flight models.

I started counting and I'm at 42 different planes in different tracks from my campaigns ranging from P-40 - Lerche and all are canopy closed. Planes like...

USSR - B1, Mig 9, 250, Yak 15, La 7, Mig 3, Il 2, IL 10,Yak 9
Germany - Me 262, Lerche, He 163, Gotha, Do 355, Ta 183
US - All P-38, P-51, P-39, P-80
RAF - Typhoon, Tempest, all Spits, Hurricane

Anyway, every plane I ever recored so far has worked from campaigns ranging from Ace of Aces to WWIII 1946. I really think they solved the problem.

It's not that much a matter of a flight model being old or new.
It's really just about whether or not the ability to open canopies matches between recording time and playback or not.
Modders in the past created endless of "opening canopy" mods for planes which didn't have this ability in stock IL-2.
BAT incorporates many of these mods.
At the same time, a few planes in BAT even had the "opening canopy" removed because they received further updates (mostly updated 3D models and/or cockpits) which turned out to be incompatible with the existing "opening canopy" version, so the opening canopy had to be removed for the time being until an update is ready.

That's it: Mismatches in the "opening canopy" ability create these issues in track playbacks.

What about new tracks that are recorded in the same versions

Do they suffer the same problems? So if I record a track in BAT blitz and then play it back should I be seeing these issues?
As mentioned before I do see the issues with bomb doors that hasn’t been an issue is BAT for me until now but was in the early days of CUP.

why not just do it? I mean, I don't get why you ask this if you are in BAT anyway. Just do it and see for yourself.

Hi
I ask because I do have the problems in BAT (since Blitz) and I am trying to identify why. I have tried a full reinstall with no additional mods and it still happens but did not happened before the Blitz update. So seeing if someone else has similar issues. As an avid track maker I am struggling with the issue of bomb bay doors constantly opening and closing in any track I make in BAT blitz with bombers.
