Il-2 6Dof/TIR Enabled Executable Error, Why?

OK so we know that many have experienced the "Il-2 6Dof/TIR Enabled Executable for Modded Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 has stopped working" error.

And we know that the error is due to PALs VisalMOD8 or VisalMOD9.  Stop using those and the crash goes away.

Do we know why the issue occurs?

And can it be fixed so we can use these mods?

The reason why it occurs isn't quite clear, I think. One of the methods which worked for me has been the subject of some posts on this site, I believe. Removing the VisualMod8 or 9 out of the #WAW folder in the game, which is part of the basic CUP install (and do it manually, because by JSGME it sometimes doesn't work completely), and putting the manually downloaded newest version of PAL-VisualMod9-v4122 in place did the trick for me...
Maybe it is worth to give it a try...?

I am having a problem when launching aircraft from a carrier in WAW.
As soon as the lead ai plane is ready to takeoff the game crashes.
I get the Il-2 6Dof/TIR Enabled Executable Error when I try to close the
game using task manager. As far as I can tell its not related to visual
mod 8/9 and I am not using them. I swear I read somewhere that the
culprit was one of the JTW versions.

Its a shame someone hasn't made a compiled and working version of each module to make installing easier.

I currently have the newest versions of both WAW and JTW installed.

Strangely I alt tabbed out of and back into il-2 and the loading screen said it was only loaded to 5%.
