I put a P-61 folder in C:\Users\my computers name\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins
I tryed to apply the skin and this is what I got.Where do I put the skin to get it to work correctly?

Obviously the skin doesn't fit the aircraft; the skin can be rotated or intended for another version of the P-61.

I download several of them, they all do the same thing. The only one that fits is the default skin.
The question I am posing is how do I fix it ?

It is a 1024 x 1024 skin , I downloaded all the skins from either SAS or mission for today

There are differences in mapping the HSFX and 101tfs.
Your Skins from SAS & M4T must match your Default Skin.
The 101tfs Template is long gone, haven't got this either,
so can't be of much help.

Maybe if I could locate the default skin and work on it to be army green instead of black ?

Yes, you can, but before you start enable "view file extensions" in your Windows
File Folder Settings... then go for it
here an example:

P-61s_101tfs\3do\plane\P-61A\summer

locate and copy this file to your work folder
skin1o.tgb
rename to
skin1o.tga

now you can open/edit with PS or whatever.
You'll see there are 5 Skin options in the Plane folder. One of them is green, green with stripes or black...
Note: the tgb file is what you search for, as the default skin1o.tga inside the default folders are already downsized.

Will ask Gerax, maybe he has a backed up archive of Crazyflaks/100tfs Template.

I down loaded the P-61 template V1 czk&101tfs but it doesn't fit .
Here is the one that fits. I tried to do this one but even though I changed the color of the Pylon tga it still black.

That is an A-20 skin, not the P-61. That is why it will not fit.

I didn't notice that until now. I don't know how it got into the P-61 folder.
