Polished P-51D
« on: November 27, 2014, 12:46:09 PM »

Hi all,

Five skins of P-51D

Download link :

https://www.mediafire.com/download/9mee4fzpypi9c43/Skins+P-51D.7z

I have in my game these 5 skins since a long, long time ago.

they probably come back from the "big-bang" of IL-2 Mods !!!

I am not the author of these skins and unfortunately
I am unable to mention the name of the authors...
But I hope they will forgive me this gap !

With some new informations to this day, 28/11/2014 :
Some of the Authors should be: "Shooter" , "Darrens" , "Leadspitter",...
This is therefore an opportunity to pay tribute to their work.

With Photoshop I simply added to these skins a version with : "No mark"
and a version with : "No mark and no nose art"

like that it is now possible to use these skins for campaigns or missions.

They are in standard resolution but they are very, very nice
and I congratulate enormously the creators of these  skins !!!

Included in the download :

-The five skins in three versions.
-The screen shots.
( so, if you want to use them for game backgrounds or whatever you want, you are free !)

And now, the pictures of these handsome War-birds :

Have fun, Thierry.

!!!!Crazy_horse_Polished.bmp has his logo, in the rest of the skins the logo is missing.

Yeah, that is Darren's (FBS) version of Crazy Horse. He removed most of his work from M4T years ago, and didn't want any of it re-uploaded anywhere else. Some of his work is still there on that site, but his 'high polish' skins are pretty much lost to oblivion. The other author appears to be Leadspitter, or at least somebody who used his tempate. Both of them have been gone from the community for ages.

You might want to remove 'Crazy Horse' from your d/l pack...Shooter was always very specific about redistributing his work, a big no-no in his eyes. While I doubt he'll ever see this or complain about it, the respectful thing to do would be to honor his wishes and not re-up his work without his permission. I should know, Shooter taught me everything I know about skinning and was a very good friend of mine for many, many years.

It's up to you to decide what you want to do, but among skinners re-upping our work without our permission is a cardinal sin/taboo.

My God, what an unleashing !  ;)

I'm really sorry to have offended so many sensibilities!
But for me, when a work is voluntarily distributed to the public you have to know assuming the risks and consequences...
You know, copyrights (Moral or pecuniary) are like virginity : When they are lost,it's hard to recover them !  >:(
I am a photographer and I am very familiar about this subject !

In the meantime, thank you for providing these informations on the authors.  :D

I'll take the time to think and I'll see then what I'll do about this topic...

But perhaps that an administrator will be able to give me an informed opinion about the best way to follow
in the interest of all ?  :-\

I'm here to share, not for profit !!!

and again, I'm really sorry to have unintentionally hurt a community of "famous artists" !

tbauchot is right.

I have numerous CFS3 files I spent countless hours working on and testing that are 10+ years old I know have been reused in various mods and reuploads, if anybody still plays it, and frankly, it doesn't bother me in the least.

If they are no longer active in the IL2 community, and I mean years and years with no input or presence. I wouldn't worry about it. There's maddenly enough dead links to nowhere, ad nauseum, here and on other IL2 sites as it is.

Thanks for the (re)upload..

As with most works of art, the artist and fans can usually tell their own work when they see it.

Not be an P@zzh0le, but conceirning such copyright thingys in the Community,
authors bypassing usual arts and crafts freedom of creation goes simply
on my nerve. When do some people check Design related law doesn't grab here?
Google the definition of Design...
Code: [Select]
If you call this art, then ask Mr. Picasso why he copied the style of his buddy allover completely,
and Braque never accused Pablo of stealing his "copyrighted" ideas.
Everybody is free to attend a college class in your local design faculty on that topic
and learn more about it. Both of us are not usual staff of 1C/Maddox nor in any right to claim restriction, only
theories and behaviour you find in the Gang/Graffiti scene, OLD-Schoolers=Respect,
biting/fame achieving. The scene hosts such things for too long, it's contraproductive
and in no rigid law or arts environment to be found.
It is not more than some narcistic fade away.
I speak about my R/L work as a studied artist, please let people
and artists the freedom to choose whatever they want to be creative,
Credits should be enough, not playing FB! allover when somebody
is eager to give Credits.
Long credibillity and experience in honour, when it is enough,
it is enough. Than stop publishing as a 3rd party, it's that easy.
If Credits are due, this is not against our Forums laws, if FBS removes his stuff himself,
it is his problem. If you think this is disrespectfull, you're on the wrong track.
Just wanted to set this straight here, don't feel aflamed or poked at,
simply let us Kids do what we want, what we're allowed to do, being creative....
Wishing you all the best

like what, a disinterested act of sharing, can quickly switch to an act of plunder !!!

It is quite sad that some people here think they are artists in their own right...
Now if that is the case: Behave like professionals artists !

Have you requested the necessary authorizations from the creators of nose art of the 40s
prior to reproducing them ?

I do not think so !

And in that sense,at other levels, I could ask me a lot of other similar issues !  :-\\

So, when I say :

and again, I'm really sorry to have unintentionally hurt a community of "famous artists" !

It is not without a certain dose of irony !!!    ;D

However, this does not prevent me to be respectful and grateful to all the modders and users community !
The first ones would not be able to exist without the other, and vice versa !  :)

And if you wish ardently to have absolute control over your work, do not forget to make us accept a
license agreement that puts you in order, on the one hand : with the ascendants
and the other hand : with the descendants !!!   :-\\

So, let us stay humble, do not take ourselves too seriously, we
are here to entertain ourselves and not to enter into insolvent polemics...

Good Flights, Thierry.    ;)

Thanks for saving these great FlyByShooter skins Thierry

I very much appreciate these as I lost a shedload of skins, going back years, in a hard-drive crash last year. - Which is how I found myself here.

Since then I have recovered all my work on CUP, as this was backed up on several other drives, but not all the skins I once had.  Years have passed and now many are no longer available.

These skins are properly credited.  You have made no claims regarding authorship or anything silly. - case closed.

many thanks again  8)
