Looking for a Blenheim Mk.IV with twin-gun dorsal turret
« on: November 05, 2013, 03:39:18 AM »

There has been a request for a Bristol Mk.V, https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,32669.msg349966.html#msg349966 which so far hasn't been made yet, so how about upgrading the defensive armament on the Blenheim IV? The Type B.I Mk IIIA turret fitted with twin-VGOs was fitted during 1940, but was soon superseded by the superior B.I Mk IV turret with twin Brownings http://www.211squadron.org/blenheim_armament.html . The Blenheim IV in-game is really only suitable for 1939 to BoB scenarios as far as the RAF goes; it would be good to have it a bit less of a sitting-duck for the rest of its Il-2 career.  :). Any takers?

It would be better to do the twin turret as a loadout option, instead of making a new plane... but I do not know if it is possible.

The Blenheim IVF in HSFX has a twin-turret but it's a bit of a bodge, being the single-gun turret with two guns stuck in it. A weapon loadout for a twin-turret would be ideal but I think, like you, that it's not possible except maybe as a JSGME option.

Hallo

Newie made a Blenheim IVF with twin-MG-turret some Mont.

You can find it in the twins-section

perhaps You can "implant"  the turret in the IV Bomber ?

Cheers

I think that Newey's MkIVF is the one in HSFX; it certainly looks the same. With the single-gun turret being needed for the early war, perhaps the most logical thing to do would be to revert the IVF to a IV and make the gunpack a loadout choice (if it's possible), thus saving a plane slot.
