I have a question...after seeing this promo would love to get this game...but don't like steam
can it be bought and patched without using the steam interface ?

Sorry nz but the answer is no.  Even if you get a disk you will still need  steam to down load the game, and get the "offical patchs".

This give cannon shells on 109 and 110 a meaning. And bombers are harder to shoot down. I like this patch

Bought it a few months back for $10 on Amazon.  Great deal given TF work to improve the sim which was the only reason I bought it. 

Looking forward to seeing TF patch 4.0 and the improvements!

If only I could get rid of the ground shimmer, I would spend much more time in CoD.  Eyes get batty after a while though until I can figure out a fix.

2gb minimum graphics card of Nvidea x60 type plus- a 770 or 780 would be a good bet, having a cpu that runs at 4.0ghz plus is a good idea
