2048 square
« on: February 11, 2013, 07:05:44 AM »

The Typhoon Ia, Ib and Ib(bubbletop) are almost done.
I am leaning towards doing the Mitchells next, as i had already started back in September.

But a Twin like the Mitchell, in many declinations is a BIG task.
I am talking from scratch. Not an upsized and cleaned Template.

So i am looking to do a single Engine plane of Few Variants.
Nothing like the 190 or the 109, Thud or Mustang, Yak or Lavkochin.
There is so much to do wrong on these... Jesses!!

A useful and wellknown and widely used Plane. Nothing like the Lerche.
P.11c? Not really.

Pointers?
Wishes?

Let's do this Rap style... the Plane that gets the Most applause shell get to the next round!

Thinking of it... the Ju-88 A aint such a bad candidate. Okay, she is a twin, but few Variants and widely used.
Also well documented and very technical, clear panel lines that are straightforward to draw.
Precise german engineering with welldefined details.

This is for you and any new member looking at this post.

For a moment,
Close your eyes,
roll down what is posted on this screen... https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12281.0.html

Choose one airplane.
That airplane will be your next project for the next 2 weeks.  ;)

Most likely you will be the first person to create a new skin template for that particular aircraft. Specially if its
in a size 2048x2048 skin.
About 70% of all aircraft flying in the IL2 need new 1024 sized templates. For 2048 skins even more so.
What has been done in the past , is good enough and some airplanes already have 5 to 10+ templates.
So those are quite enough. We need new templates for the others.
Each aircraft is unique and special.

If airplanes ainĀ“t your thing, then there are also many new ships, vehicles, tanks and all sorts of things that
need better texturing and details on them for the IL2 game. Without some good eye-candy painted on these
models, it will simply be a boring game to watch and experience.
Skins and texturing are a very important part of what makes this game look great.
Just choose a airplane from the list and get started.

The Havoc... but he doesn't have the rivets i am looking for :D
Fiat G55, another really beautiful aircraft. But less popular. But the 5xbreda safat around the central Motorkanone are an awesome setup i like a lot.
Hellcat. used widely, liked by players, a ton of rivets and not many variations to get confused by.
Or the unloved older Brother, the Wildcat?
P40? Nope, to be redone in 4.12 anyway.
D.520. someone somewhere had one in the works.
Very nice wing surfaces.

So many planes... its ridiculous!

For applause, I give it to the P-36 or Hawk75, in whatever variation it appears in the game.

I have now spent the evening with the shturmovik. Inside and out.
She needs more than paint. Much more.
But i can see myself spend a weekend on painting her from scratch, in a cooperational effort to remove her worst kinks and edges.
she has seen more than a decade of service, and even with Jeronimo's Work, she is one of the ugly ducklings of our game.
And yet, one of our Backbone Groundpounders.
Defnitely interested to participate in a makeover.

She is, she is! ;D
But a Faithful one. With proper Training, she will be a good and usefull companion through the war!  :)
I am itching to have a go at the Warhawk. Dreaming of having a D model with the amsller Radiator and the early Merlin engine.
4.12.
So the quest goes on...
Maybe i shall just follow the Greek goddess - Tempest mark FIVE.... The UBER-Typhoon  ??? ?
