Extracting USS Langley from DBW1916
« on: December 09, 2012, 09:04:46 AM »

I know that there is a version of the first US carrier, the USS Langley, available in the US Light Carriers mod. But somehow the version of the USS Langley in DBW1916 looks much nicer and more ramshackle and appealing. I've been looking to install the 1916 version of the Langley into regular DBW.

Now, with some patient searching and comparing, I can probably extract the correct lines from the DBW1916 chief, ships and stationary files ... but what about the mod files themselves? I haven't found them hidden away in any of the mod folders inside DBW1916. Nor have I found any separate install in the ships & vehicles section on SAS either. Is there one available somewhere perchance? Searching for USS Langley doesn't give anything either ...

I think the files you are looking for are in the SFS Files.

That's most probable indeed. But searching for a small mod in the sfs files is almost like prospecting for gold ... it's there, but before you find it ...

I was hoping that it was available somewhere as a separate download.

Its in the dbw_objects_02.sfs file.
The original mod is from aviaskins.com iirc.

Its in the dbw_objects_02.sfs file.

I've been looking and searching for this file, but it's not in any of my several DBW installs ... does it go by another name perhaps? I don't even have any sfs files that start with the prefix dbw ...

Its in the SAS_DBW subfolder, but I can extract the files for you if needed.

Thanks, got the extracted files ... will try it out today ...

I rather hope that in the next DBW update this carrier gets placed in the WWII DBW files as well ... it did see service till 1942, so it's the perfect vessel for use in both sections of DBW ...
