Well you see.... as I had to hand paint those islands I would sometimes become frustrated and I admit I may have kicked a few penguins untill I didnt see anynore but then one was standing there with its back to me and I had been having a bad day so I kicked it square in its butt. It turned out to be a nun at the church there and she beat the crap out of me with her yard stick. :)

Don't worry red spade

A little request from me for work done on the map .

Also hoping for virus infected zombified penguins too he he.

Mark WOW hand painting  ;D

I've never really attempted that on a map and I know and can be tedious and to the point that you can't see any more.

Your now a true master in texturing  ;D :D

You'll be high up in the ranks with Blumax, Redko etc.

Cheers Kirby

I second that.

I would love to knock out some penguins, but I am tied up with a load of 3d work for published (and unpublished as yet  ;) ) WIPS.

I love this map because of the realistic textures and lack of obvious tiles. Well done Bombs   :)

I cant tell you guys how much that means to me. To be compared to those guys, I'm flattered. There are so many great mappers here. Agracier, Kirby, Blumax, Redko and so many more that I cant name them all. Those guys are the great ones. I'm just learning. Remember, I have been splashing about in the shallows for years and just now have tried land. :) I must get my legs first and then I hope to become as good as them. I dont feel like I'm there yet but I hope to be one day. :) Thank you guys for such kind words. I cant thank you enough.

There are no icebergs in the south atlantic, since Antartida is actually a continent hence it does not porduce icebergs...

are you sure ?   ;)

"Though usually confined by winds and currents to move close to the coast, the largest icebergs recorded have been calved, or broken off, from the Ross Ice Shelf of Antarctica"

"South Georgia Island, which sits in the center of this true-color Terra MODIS image, is covered in snow and glaciers, making it as brightly white as the huge icebergs that float slowly past."

sorry, I forgot to post the above mentioned image :-[

In DBW there is only one iceberg there in objects. I had to get Uff's from my old 4.09 install. He had originaly put out three of them in a pack, one is the Surabachi mount painted up like an iceberg.

What are you talking about? It does. The iceberg is a broken off part of an ICE SHELF or a GLACIER. The whole continent is covered by a giant glacier which expands from the center of continent in all directions. Plus we got Ross Ice Shelf and, exactly to the south from this map, Filchner Ice Shelf. The Antarctica actually produces much more icebergs than Arctic. The only big glacier, which can produce icebergs in North is on Greenland.

On the South there is the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, which may intercept icebegs before they could reach the area of this map. However it doesn't mean there are no icebergs on Southern Ocean at all.

I satand corected!  :-[

But they are not as common or come down north as much as its northern counterparts.

I have lots of friends sailing down at Tierra del Fuego, and arround Cape Honr and Icebergs are never a concern.
And you can imagine that in a 30 ft sailboat, a small iceberg can really ruin your day...
