Distance Conversor
« on: June 30, 2012, 08:24:25 AM »

Just wanted to share with you guys this little program I made for those hardcore Il-2 players that play without a speed bar/ altimeter and instead they check the gauges.

As there isn't any session on these forums dedicated to these programs and utilities I decided to post it here.
If it is in the wrong session please move it.

I usually use this in my secound monitor while I'm flying.

NEW: Small Version for windowed players released.

Version 1.0

Version 1.0 Small Version

Download:

1.0 - http://depositfiles.com/files/1gc4laxwl

1.0 Small Version - http://www.sendspace.com/file/t0zkp7

So far the ability to put this program always in front of Il-2 is out of the possibility, technically it would work in DirectX but not in OpenGL and I'm pretty sure most of you prefer to have good quality vs this little program and even putting things like that I'm not sure it will even work on DirectX because IL-2 seems to have some weird code to always keep it's window on top.

Still I might add more conversions to this program like Kilogram to Pounds and etc

No problem, I'm trying to find a way to make this program appear always on top of Il-2 so you can use it in-game but so far it's a no.

I use Google for converting. If you just type "500 ft in meters" for example in the search bar, it will come up with the calculator and tell you.

Well the point of this conversor is that you don't need to go to google to know this stuff.

True enough, if you've played enough racing or flight games, and have driven/flown with different measuring units, its not to hard to get an idea, unless you need close accuracy for putting in to the bombing computer/aiming system. I'm sure persons could find a large graphical chart that slightly be quicker, but thats just splitting hairs.

Useful is as usefully needed by some :D (in Forest Gump voice)

But I do find that being raised in the post metric UK; where travelling measures are in imperial, and 90% weights & engineering draughtings are in metric; that I never learned what a furlong is in feet or miles to kilometers, or how many feet to a mile and such imperial weirdness (like there used to be on average dependant on international exhanges and gold standard, 112p - 120p to £1)...
Although I'm very aware that 2 slow poured 275ml/2.75cl/0.275dl etc) Carlsberg bottles will fill a pint glass with a 10-ish mike mike's/quater-ish inch of head/froth upon it.
