People don't always use that emoticon for negative purposes, crazyflak. It's easy to misinterpret a person's meaning and tone in a single written sentence (we humans rely much upon vocal tone and facial expression for emotional reception). Maybe he does or doesn't mean what you think he does, but you jumped to your own conclusions, and made a disrespectful comment in response to what you perceived as one.

Let's all of us try to keep this place a friendly one for everyone's benefit. A stiff response from a misinterpreting mod (or any other user) can be discouraging to members, especially new ones.

I use it in the same way that it to indicate "an innocence, a joke" in a question/answer!

Moreover, it exists the language problem. A great quantity of members are using automatic translators to paste here the text  later. A lot of sense and information is lost in this way. And of course, we can misunderstand the atitude from the user.

Posting something like that without saying thanks or commenting on the actual work available, I would too consider highly impolite especially if a rolleyes smiley is attached. If I try online translate the following senctence back to italian: "Dear Jeronimo, would you please consider updating the G.55 spinner" -> "Caro Jeronimo, vuoi perche non l'aggiornamento del G.55 filatore", I bet it works pretty well although i dont understand italian. ;)

Buona sera a tutti gli amici di SAS, mi presento MAXDOE sono italiano.
Non avrei imaginato che per aver chiesto, SENZA OFFENDERE NESSUNO, una patch che potesse rendere piu piacevole l'ogiva del mitico G55, NON AVREI MAI IMAGINATO che con una semplice domanda avrei scatenato l'indignazione o l'offesa di qualcuno . . . . . Faccio le mie sentite scuse se qualcuno se ne fosse, scusate ancora se non sono molto preparato nella lingua inglese e per questo chiedo cortesemente a qualche amico italiano piu capace di fare da trammite e ritradurre quanto sopra da me esposto . . .GRAZIE E AMICO DI TUTTI.
