Ecto Train Tracks & Rail Structures by Greif & Uufflakke
« on: April 17, 2012, 10:25:17 AM »

.

Since we now have the excellent new stock trains by Greif11 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,24651.0.html) I tried to make new stock train tracks, more detailed and with gravel:

DL
https://www.mediafire.com/?amywjvksk3wsjur

installation:
unzip and copy rail.tga in MapMods / Maps / _Tex / land / summer
and also in MapMods / Maps / _Tex / land / winter

enjoy :)
.
EDIT
Greif's & Uufflakke's new rail structures just  some posts below !!!

NOTE
if you notice this mismatch:

please let me know if a correction is possible
Colored guides are from a test texture and show where image ends and begins again, and they match perfectly, so it may depend from map

please, consider upgrading your old rusted railways to  railways that are used on a daily basis... by addin a silver zone without corrosion.

Well, you see Gustav, unfortunately this is a flat texture and not an object so I was obliged to choose some compromises to represent it. The rusty parts you mention are the sides of track: you see both just like if it was crushed and symmetrically flattened.
The silver line you mean is present

but only a little part of the tga is projected as texture, and think that I enlarged the original tga from 256x128 to 1024X512 !!!

Anyway, all this can be certainly improved  :)

Same problem with mine tracks ----that's why of different texture scaling.
Another author of improved tracks still keep silent______Uufflakke why not?

That problem was since first day of IL-2 But nobody never pay attention on that :D

Its first you need to find [rail.BumpH]. If that file exists, of course.
Another way- new name of texture + BumpH file. It means completely new set of files for map.
But all glory to Uufflakke + Ectoflyer if they do it  ;)

In Monday I fly back to work. My vacations is over  :'(

I always love these seemingly little things that at first sight don't appear important or significant, but when they are upgraded do give significant improvements in how things look in the game ... it's not 'sexy' like making plane mods, but it is just as much appreciated ...

We're lucky to have members who think of such things to improve and have the know-how and inclination to do the job ...

Nice stuff...

I love these new tracks. Thanks Ecto & Uuflake. With the former ones, you couldn't distingish a railway from a road until you got really close. These look much better.
