The RUSS aerobatic display team consists of five white-blue painted L-39 Albatros aircrafts equipped with smoke generators. Short time ago every payable aviation fan could fly on the back seat during team formation trainings, but now this practice is disabled.
The "RUSS" aerobatic team was formed in 1987 from Vjazma Air Training Centre to be participates at Tushino Air Show. First, the pilots practiced with L-29 aircraft, but it was difficult to handle because of the high-located stabilizer. That forced the team to transfer to L-39. Vjazma Air Training Centre received 10 new L-39 Albatros aircraft and began training under the leadership of Farid Akchurin. Soon the team was ready and then in August 1987 performed with nine camouflage painted L-39s at Tushino air parade.
In 1998 all team's planes received special blue-white color scheme.
In 2011 during MAKS air show the team participated in five ship formation.
From 2012 the RUSS aerobatic team will become civil one with a new paint scheme. Vyazma Aviation Training Center, where the team is based, converts its planes to civil ones, which allows more flexibility to fly outside Russia.
