how to replace weathered metal screen
« on: July 24, 2011, 08:13:48 PM »

There are a couple of really nice screen replacements in our forums (thanks!). However, with our new selectors, those screens don't stay on for long. Is there a way to replace the weathered metal screen instead?

So, what you want to do is replace these backgrounds, correct?

All you need to do is place a TGA file in the folder

#DBW\STD\gui
for the load up screen, make sure it's named "background.tga"
and

#DBW\STD\missions
(create the missions folder)
for the main menu. Should also be named "background.tga"

Make them the same size/resolution as the default backgrounds! Also be sure to make backups!

Have fun and happy killing :)

thanks for the quick reply Kazegami. I had seen your post before with that instruction (thanks), but that replaces the main DBW load screen with the beautiful dark blue sky, not the default weathered metal paint peeling screen that appears behind the main menu (and the stand by dialog) that I was referring to. Any idea for where to replace this metal paint peeling screen?

I got it now! For some reason, my brain got stuck: I kept reading "missions" folder and kept thinking it was for the single mission backgrounds. All is good now - thank you!
