Sknil.exe (beta) drawing skin in 3D by ZinoDavr
« on: March 14, 2011, 10:05:12 PM »

I am sorry for machine translation, I hope it it will be corrected.*
"This utility can help to draw skin.
In it it is possible at once on 3D for model to see the necessary pixels and to change them.

Requirements:
It is necessary initial skin in format BMP
Grids of "processed" model type files him and msh are necessary. It is possible to take them from the friend or to extract most, having found the information on a phrase "sfs-extractor"

Further all is simple, and as it seems to me, intuitively clearly.
1. We open necessary him command File - OpenHim
2. We open initial skin command File - OpenImage
3. We are played with model. We turn its necessary side by means of the average button of the mouse. We move the image having clamped average and right buttons. We scale having clamped average and left, or twisting a wheel.
4. "We photograph a kind". In a clipboard or in a file, commands Skin - Move*
5. We correct "Photo" in the external editor, and it is kept/is copied.
6. We return that that has turned out commands Skin - Get*
7. We repeat operations to full satisfaction.
8. We keep received skin command Skin - Save skin.

Remarks:
1. The program can badly operate, write to me, abuse me.
2. Duplicated pixels. Correcting one places it is possible to break others. If to "photograph" some duplicated pixels, and then to correct only some of them as a result all of them will be painted in sredne-arithmetic color, from those that were in a photo! So to draw something on a propeller, it is necessary that in "photo" one blade was visible only. As a result all blades begin to correspond to your corrections.
3. Vanishing pixels. If to take too large photo (to try to draw the whole plane the top view for example) many pixels simply won't get on a target picture so won't be corrected. As a result all will be in unpleasant grids.
4. Not all grids can open. At me they from version 4.08. And I opened only nearby 10. On all worked, but the guarantee on the others isn't present.
5. Don't use the button "to keep skin in a format of 256 colors" it very badly works.
Codified colors are casual.
6. Can it is a little wrong be interpreted net model. The big square wheels, there are for example drawn where in game by the alpha channel round wheels are drawn. Or the structure on lantern cover as it too is made with the alpha channel isn't visible. Here it is necessary manually, sticking into a model tree, to find an incorrect element and to put it the necessary attributes.
7. It is impossible to clean allocation? Choose a root element in a tree - "root".

Advantage:
1. Free of charge.
2. There is a chance that at me it will turn out to realize any your ideas on program modernization."

Always wanted something like this, didn't request it tho as I thought it would be impossible to take the 3d model of an IL-2 Aircraft and paint directly onto it.

Ok this program is hopelessly full of bugs and problems, all the text is question marks with english in Brackets next to it.
Everything I try to save I either get an error telling me I am in an access viloation of the program and on certain things like save image and copy to clipboard all it gives me is a blank, black or white image! >:(
Is it working for anyone else and if so a short guide on how to get the thing to work would be appreciated. ;)
