SNARK HUNTING Insights UPDATE 6/1/2011
« on: December 11, 2010, 01:27:51 AM »

Well,

Here's a bit of an insight into the world of SNARK.  ;D 8)

1) SNARKJungle map update coming to you around the new year holiday mainly more population.

2) SNARKPolar map Malone's idea is becoming a WIP hopefully with some 3d ice burgs in the near future(calling a 3d guru 8) :D)
Great idea Malone ;D  8)
I've got data from the North Polar region. Very difficult to find.

3) SNARKMountains is also a WIP. I've sourced some great textures from two regions around the world. Am hell bent
on making it a very wild and woolly countryside. Sasquatch/Yeti style, log building cities, stone building cities.
An overlooked mountainous region that has never been made as a map to this date.
An Autumn and Winter map.

Stay tuned for more SNARK HUNTING insights.  ;D :-\

i'm thinking we should also consider a SNARK desert map at some point in the future, then we would have covered most types of regions... ;)

Hi Malone,

Yes, for the series I initially thought of

SNARKJungle
SNARKMountains
SNARKTemperate
SNARKArid/Semi Arid.

You, you mind blower  :D  ;D 8) came up with SNARKPolar  ;D  :-\ That's why I put in a second request for some 3d object ice burgs 8) ;D.

I've got two maps for SNARKPolar will send Sunday.Working on them tonight They are in the Arctic Circle.

I've thought of some interesting areas that really haven't been mapped for semi arid/arid.

I still like to keep the locations only between you and Skipper as that hopefully creates a sense of excitment for SNARK followers.

Cheers Kirby

Yeh, familiar with "The Hunting of The Snark" just wondering how it applies to these maps  :)

Yes That's the basis of SNARK thinking a bit bent with a twisted sense of humour  8)

Now about missions and campaigns SAS~Skipper told me this  8)

"Small covert ops, daring raids, pick ups and drop offs, spying recon, you really don't know who the enemy is.
You'll know the enemy only when he/she is right on top of you or he/she is trying to shoot you down in a surprise attack."

Planes; civilian looking, not sporting recognition insignias maybe just a small country emblem.Painting aircraft not to be seen as
a recognized air force an air base that looks from a distance more like a civilian airport at first glance.

Depending on who you are in the world of SNARK some darker coloured aircraft perhaps dazzle camouflage could be used effectively to hide your aircraft.
Especially if you have to steal paint.

Basically getting away from W.W.2 standard camo styles.

Wow this is so cool! Since it is literary in nature, ;) I shared it with my boss.

Map making is one of my favorite areas of IL-2 modding. I really look forward to what you guys come up with.

Hey does this look like a good SNARK Hunting skin?

It's old, but seems I might dig it out if I can find it.

Definitely a SNARK skin there Triad  ;D :-X

Skinners have awesome imaginations  ;D

With SNARK skins you can really let yourself go  ;) 8) :P

SNARK planes I see a mix of obsolete and modern types in one mission or campaign the more variety the better  ;D

Your not set to any time frame as SAS~Skipper says SNARK people are fantasy people ;D

Great job SAS~Triad  ;D

Well,

Here's a population update for Pagodana a country in the SNARKJungle map.

3 styles of towns

A general low living standard tropical town (look out for those very clean slums)
A tropical army base style town with two large army bases and 'Entertainment'areas for the troops.
A very low living standard tropical village

General Pagodanese Town

Very clean slums and high security prisons

Army Base Pagodanese Town

100's of troops in this style of town (to counteract the rebel forces) and seedy low brow entertainment areas open 24/7.

The tropical low living standard village will come next.

A map update in about two weeks or so

Populating by copy and paste and some hand populating very time consuming in order to get the right feel for each style of tropical town.
