Pursuivant, not really worried about your skin 'request' but i think it's only fair to let Gerd finish the model with some basic skins, and any other skins can be easily done by skinners after release.
i can assure you, many skinners(as is apparent from previous posts) are chomping at the bit to get stuck into skinning this great plane. :D
to expect Gerd to make many different skins as well, is probably being a bit unfair, don't you think? ;)

That's true.

Fair enough. Once it's released I can easily see the F8F being a favorite plane to skin. By the end of the Pacific war, every carrier in the fleet had distinctive wing and tail markings for its planes, so there's a lot of potential there for "1946" style skins. As long as you don't mind variations of navy blue and white, that is. . . :)

This new model with spiner will allow some nice racer skins !
By the way, I've started some historical skins from new Gerd's UVmapping.
Just a preview, the skin is still "wip" and I've many things to add to finish the skin.
I just started "personnal" internal according pictures I have :

Please rename TomsCat_hier.him to hier.him at Gerd's_F8F-2_Beta_0_1\3do\plane\F8F-2.
Initially spinner and tail will not be displayed.
