Look at the skin file of a F6F-5 Hellcat (solid blue version) for example. It has a black background to separate the tail section and other parts. Maybe the skinner did that himself. I notice the white voids have everything the same color, just the panel lines show up, of course the panel lines help to line things up.

I suppose the skin file you posted is just the quick one for the Alpha version. What do I do with the cowl flap update?

Do I need a 3dMax or Gmax to put this in the template?

I do not want to expose 3D model. ;)
Perhaps, You beyond the desired information in the following information would be obtained. :D

Thanks for the plane Gerd.I have a question, is there a way a guy can deactivate the rolling prop and revert back to using the regular prop mod textures?

yes, i've been having difficulty trying to get a different prop to show up for this, as well - there's something a little 'off' about the spinning prop of this version.... :)

I hope Gerd doesn't mind but this is my attempt at a little better Roll prop effect.Place in MODS folder/Gerd's_F8F-2_Xmas_Alpha folder/3do folder/plane folder/TEXTURES folder you can let it overwrite if you wish or backup the orginal if you don't like mine.Once again (BIG THANKS) to Gerd for the great plane.             http://www.filefront.com/17707067/New roll prop for Gerds F8F2.zip     Update!   link for a cleaner version     http://www.filefront.com/17711024/Cleaner version of roll prop.zip

This thing looks like an Americanized/navalized 190. I'm going to have to take her for a spin.

Gerd, just a few things about the skin/mapping - it'd be nice to be able to get an internals layer, for the cockpit area, which is currently basically just white, as well as the little exhausts on either side of the fuselage, and the inside of the gear undercarriage....
also, she seems to have a tendency to blow up instantly when hit - is there still some work to be done with the damage model?
i understand it's still WIP, so i guess you'll be adressing this at some point - just thought i'd point it out in case you missed it.  ;)
loving this plane, mate....i've had a couple of pretty awesome missions with her... 8)

Yep :)
F6F Hellcat
F8F Bearcat
F9F Panther
A4 Skyhawk
F4 Phantom
F-18 Hornet

You missed a couple in your list.
F9F Couger
F11 Tiger
Chance Vought F7U Cutlass ... that must been a bitch to fly in demonstration considering it was supposed to have been so under powered.

The Vought F7U Cutlass was only flown several times, for solo only.
