Questions about the DGen XXXplanes.dat
« on: October 31, 2010, 05:59:19 AM »

Hi, could someone answer those questions about the DGen XXXplanes.dat:

-What is the meaning of the last number of this line?
Allies USSR Fighter I_16TYPE24 300 1400 1400 default 1?

-If I enter those lines:

Allies England LBomber B_25G1 300 3000 3000 12x100lbs 1
Allies England LBomber B_25G1 300 3000 3000 2x1000lbs 1
Allies England LBomber B_25G1 300 3000 3000 3x1000lbs 1

Will DGen chose at random between the different LBomber configurations?

-When DGen select oRuAttackAF with fighters in the ops file what is the configuration used in the XXXplanes.dat file? FAttack? aHeavy? aSoft? FBomber?

Thanks!  :)

The last number is says that for this plane only one station for the player is possible, means that for the B25 the player only can fly as pilot. If you choose the number 4 the player can use all stations like pilot, rear gunner, ... but with the mods also planes with number 0 (means not flyable) are flyable.

dgen does choose between the configurations but i can´t discover any system :) perhaps it´s random

The selection on the mission type depends on the plane type you have assigned to your plane and the others, fighter, bomber, fighter bomber ...

Thanks for your precious answers Boelcke :)
About the 3rd question, if I want to attack an airfield and I attribute, ie a Bf-109, to the fighter role DGen will use FAttack configuration, but if I attribute the 109 the Fighter-bomber role DGen will choose between aHeavy, aSoft, FBomber????

In "fighter role" - FIGHTER in classes???.dat - DGen never assign fighters like 109, to attack ground targets. It is possible when Your plane (or AI) is assigned as LIGHT.

... yes, if You mean JABO in classes???.dat. But "DGen will choose" sounds not too good - better is "DGen generates semirandomized missions".

depends on how the Bf 109 is assigned in the xxxplanes.dat

if assigned to all roles like "fighter" "fbomber" "asoft" etc. it depends also to the ops file.

for example - here for an allied plane:

if there is first a bomber or fighter bomber your plane will spawn as fighter role

oRuAttackAF 10622:50509               VVS 6fB 6Y        LW 4F 4F

if your plane is the first in the line, you will be a fighter bomber

oRuAttackAF 10622:50509               VVS 8Y 9B 12F       LW 4F 8F

the best way is to assign a plane type in the planes.dat only to one role like fighter, cause in this way you will always spawn as fighter no matter what else. This way you can choose another planes in the role of a bomber, fighter bomber or attack plane.

If in fighter bomber role, dgen cooses with relation to the targets, when doing a attacksoft mission, well it will be the asoft outfit :)

Thanks leszek957, Boelcke (and vtrelut ;) ) for your answers. Things are much much clearer to me now :)
You are right leszek957 about the fact that ""DGen generates semirandomized missions". Sometimes my English sounds not too good ;)
Cheers!
