Looking forward to this one  i beleive the original Hawaii is one of the few stock maps that has not received much love, i never tried the Saburo Sakai version due to a seeming lack of missions/campaigns/qmb's but am looking forward to try your re-juvinated version!
I really feel that a full set of QMB missions for a new map is a  vital part of the release

The Saburo Sakai-/porto72 map is so good! Look very much forward to your version, Whitecat! (..my first contact with Pacific IL-2 maps was Hawaii...love it.)..

Testing different volcanic textures, thanks Bombsaway for the advice!

I tried that exact one but I wanted to get the red color a little more believable. Maybe with your photoshop you can get it to look real. Also, setting it a correct size was difficult for me as well.  There are a lot more cool volcanic textures in that program.

It's much more orange than just straight red, with darker, cooling areas in the middle of the flow.

Excellent work so far by the way. Way back when on AAA, I had started trying to redo the Hawaii map using a slightly modified stock map with completely rebuilt object placement. I know a few others tried after I lost interest in finishing the project. I was never quite happy with some of the limitations in trying to build an accurate Hawaii with the limitations of the engine. Some better, more appropriate textures than what I had to work with will go a long way though.

Well this is An almost Dry lava, i think for il2 Whitecat Textures are Simple Amazing !

Notice that he has set the Weather to Hazy or good so the Shadows drop,With clear weather and more light it will looks like your pic !
