Heinkel He-112B The Forgotten Fighter.
« on: May 23, 2011, 11:35:59 AM »

Type: The Heinkel He 112 was a fighter aircraft designed by Walter and Siegfried Günter. It was one of four aircraft designed to compete for the Luftwaffe's 1933 fighter contract, which was eventually won by the Messerschmitt Bf 109. Small numbers were used for a short time by the Luftwaffe, and small runs were completed for several other countries, but less than 100 were completed in total. It remains one of the least known production fighter designs.

Very advanced for his time. Look that teardrop canopy, that was in the mid 30's. If someone can create one will be a excellent addition, used in SCW and Romania too against Soviet Union. Hungarian air force was very interested on it, but political pressures put the pact down.

While it never really saw widespread service, and is more notable as the plane that lost to the beautiful hundert-neun, it would be a welcome addition to the game and SCW scenarios.

didnt a SpamishP ilot once "race" a 112 against a P-38, but had no MG ammo... the Cannon ammo ran out, and the Lightning away with a few holes near an engine?

She IS a beauty. I would be scared by the small wings though... a Challenge to fly and fight in?

Hungary got some too, test-flights showed of it was better than the outdated Re.2000. Germany prevented Hungary from getting the license, to have peace in the Axis section, as Romania was first on the contractors list, and if Hungary would had that contract, a new war would been broke out between Romanians and Hungarians, who were like cat and dog.
There was one over at AAA, long time ago, already modeled, never heard what happened to the project.
My hope, one day.

Very interestng, I honestly never knew about this models export usage or the belligerents (Allies Vs. Axis) incursions letting it be flown. It sure would be nice to one day take on some air defence missions in it.
