Very interesting plane indeed, lost out to the Me-109 due to a number of factors; politics and its complex structure, which made it somewhat difficult to be produced fast.
The last factor was reason for Ernst Heinkel to develop the easier-to-build He-100.

In 1938 the Dutch air force was allowed to test a factory He-112B at Soesterberg AFB. Both Dutch test pilots were stunned by the performance of this aircraft, it was simply amazingly fast and very advanced for its time.
Diving with speeds over 600 kph and fireing 2 cannons + 2 machineguns was something completely new for the (quite experienced) Dutch test pilots, who found themselves being pushed to new limits.
Mind you, this aircraft had only the 650 hp Jumo engine, the export version would have the 1100 pk Daimler.

The Dutch airforce wanted to buy 18 of these planes but the ordering never materialized due to the personal vision of some halfwit politician, who happened to Minister of Defence. He's also the reason the Dutch airforce never got its modern fighters to replace the Fokker D.XXI; the Spitfire, Hurricane and the He-112B were the most serious candidates.

Is that the same guy who decided that since they didn't have enough bombs, they should use their 8A-3N plane as fighters?

Well, it was either that or get destroyed on the ground. For what they were dealing with, the LVA put up a pretty good fight in my opinion!

Not directly, but for the lack of fighters this guy didn't order the DB-8A's were indeed put in action as fighters - which resulted in a whole squadron being shot down after 30 minutes of fighting.

It would be great to add this plane to the game. Not only is a beautiful machine, and a significant one in SCW, but it would be to make her justice, since it was a little unfair to be relegated by me-109 (which I love also)...in other moment, other place...who knows?

Hi! I collected materials about He 112B. This package (around 130 MB) has a lot of photographs, aircraft history, achievements of aircraft, scale design and essential materials - necessary for modders.

You can find/download here:

All the best  :)

The He-112 sparked development of two more potentially excellent, but ill-fated fighters, the He-100 and Manfred Weiss WM-23 Ezust Nyil

He-100: http://www.aviastar.org/air/germany/he-100.php

Ezust Nyil: http://www.aviastar.org/air/hungary/weiss_wm-23.php

Of the two, the Ezust Nyil looks to be very close in design to the He-112, with just the forward fuselage redesigned to take a radial engine.

Is anybody working on the HE-112 as well as the 100 for IL2, the 112 would be a welcome addition for Rommanian campaigns.

I am just interested in this He 112. In last days we can see new airplanes for SCW (mainly from Dreamk). Will be this plane in game or is anybody working on this bird? :) Regards Jjuurraa
