I can never remember how it happens...

... but sometimes I can minimize out of BAT while running a mission and the clock still runs, also with time compression.

This is important to me because my missions I make are life size and sometimes it takes a 30min flight to get to the action.  (currently the Kamikaze attack on the USS Laffey...)

I have no idea what was different the last time I test ran while mission building and it ran with the game minimized but it doesn't just happen.  I've tried while running it in FMB and just as a single mission.

Does anyone know specifically how you do it?

Maybe try to change between full screen and window modes?

Try to check in your conf.ini if you have

DrawIfNotFocused=1

this is the line that should ensure that IL-2 will keep running while you go back to desktop or switch to another application

Thanks to Frankiek for sharing the hint and the topic starter for raising the question.
It works as described and is useful for testing the missions.

I never changed anything it just happened before when I minimized it.

This works but in a weird, maybe better way?

I just tried this.  According to what I see you need 2 monitors though...

... this doesn't minimize the game out but opens my second monitor to use on the desktop while I see the game running on the 1st monitor.

I had to move my task bar to the 2nd monitor and also make sure my desktop windows open in the 2nd monitor.

But now I am typing this while my mission is running while I can see it also.  Now 8 mins have passed in the game but only 5mins 49seconds on my watch with the mission playing at 2x...

Oh! how many hours of life would this would of saved me a decade ago?
