Kayabas
« on: August 27, 2024, 06:14:14 AM »

After two years of work, its time to release them.

The Kayabas

Skin templates here

Entries for air and rest of the files on README!

Directories Kayaba and Kayaba_Bombs go to your mods folder.

Kayaba_Bombs, they came from the _armsJapan_WW2 pack made by Dreamk, both bombs IJN60kgAS and IJN60kgASmod1 has its 3d updated by me: lods and textures, java remains unchanged.
If you already have _armsJapan_WW2 containing those bombs on your install you may delete classfiles leaving only folder with updated 3d.

Default skins are grey for both models. If you want change to green go to the 3d plane folder: 3do/plane/Kayaba-1 or 3do/plane/Kayaba-2, depend on wich one you want to change and copy/paste/overwrite textures from summer_green to summer.
To change it back from green to grey copy/paste from summer_grey to summer.

Kayaba-1 and Kayaba-2 from Skins place into yours .../paintschemes/skins  directory.

About Flight Model: game doesnt allow autorotation so its more like a STOL aircraft.High wing area (rotor) cause nose pitch, elevator and rudder trim is enabled to ease controls in flight.

Mod tested with Modact 6.40 and UP3.4 works, other game version should be ok too.

PS.

When carying bombs theres only a pilot, no observer, its because weight limit.
And rotor blades are foldable when on the ground.

Some historical sources.

Japan Kayaba based on US build Kellett KD-1A with license build Argus As-10c and Jacobs L-4 (R-755)

Heck yeah!

There was some old history channel documentary that talked about these, and I always had hoped there'd be a chance to fly them in a sim

Thanks for making them!
