I see what you did in the map texts. That is indeed not really good. I am surprised this works for maps at all.

There's something I usually do when I want an umlaut in a properties file, it should work here too.

Make a mission and type the character you want in the briefing. Then after saving, check the briefings properties. The letter (like ä, ö, ü, é ... ) comes out in some ASCII code or whatever. Then just replace your letters with that code for each letter (upper/lower case are different). I do suppose it also works in maps texts.

-> Vampire:
Yeah, that's how I did it to the _texts-file.
It is no big deal with the search and replace function.

"I see what you did in the map texts. That is indeed not really good."
What do you mean? The new file is only supposed to be an alternative offer for users with different language setting!?

-> gunny:
It is a bit micro management but you could do this way:
- find all names in a certain map you want to "correct"
- look for them in f.e. google maps - so you will find the correct spelling
- than open the _texts-file, search for the name
(maybe with typing only the known part --
f.e. my Silesia map: city of Görlitz should be in your file "G#rlitz" - so search for "rlitz")
- than you can replace the missing letter(s)

For the pronunciation you can look also in google. I looked for the spelling of " Å " in Denish and Svedish.
As I said, it would be a micro management, but also not sooo much work.

(hope everything is displayed correct here, so my intension is clear  ;D )

what "new text file"? Did you post an edited one somewhere?

Ah, I see! there's an edit of an older post on page 5! That is easily missed.

I looked over the one I have and there are all kinds of German and Danish special characters in plain. That is something I would not do since I know this does not work at all in properties

Besides, I just tested it and the code that works for properties does not work for map text files.
So you can forget my idea anyway.

And NOW I understand YOUR post! :-)

I tested it with the Scandinavian vocals and it worked.
But I did not realize, that it can cause problems in the mission files.

By the way:
Will you create your Leck airfield? I am very interested in the finished mission! ...

Hello guys!

I want to point your interest on a problem of mine with the BAT 4.3.3 graphics:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,73155.0.html

In this thread here I only want to ask, if anyone has problems with objects that disappear in this map ... or other maps of mine??
This is very disappointing to me...

A question to all non-BAT-users please:

Are there any modern jets in the other game versions?

I other words: does it make sense at all, to offer a ColdWar version of this map for other versions than BAT?

28.10.2024:
gunny0134 is testing some files of the ColdWar-version at the moment. While doing that, we found one more German letter, that was not replaced by now.
The German " ß " was replaced by " ss " like in " Grossenaspe " f.e.

So if you want, a version two of the ALTERNATIVEsettlements_texts :)
