Aircraft shadow
« on: February 15, 2024, 07:35:36 AM »

I'm brand new here and I'm not sure where to post this question. It might be a newbie question.
I installed BAT WAW up till 4.2 Hoftix 4. Works fine.
But... the shadows of most aircraft are partly missing. What can I do about this?

BAT 4.2.2 hf4

Not confirmed !
3x Manchester - 2x Lancaster - 1x Lincoln

You may be having configuration (config.ini) problems with your graphics card settings...

or maybe is a dll problem. You can try with the alternative graphic dll's that you can find in BAT (read the documentation on how to proceed)

No difference with alternative dll's.
Some aircraft have no shadow problems:

It's a qestion of size of memory of the PC and graphic card. Shadows of modded planes are very heavy in vertices in the eyes of the game engine that asks for very basic (and unrealistic shadow meshes) - look at your log and you'll see the game engine shouting "Shadows...too many triangles..."

I found lots of these in the log:
Code: [Select]
WARNING: TRenderManager::TriangleList_ProjectiveShadow()- internal buffer overflow.
Too many vertexes or faces per shadow hier mesh!
I  assume this is what you mean.
I have 32GB RAM which is shared by the GPU, because the graphics adapter is integrated. Most of the time 15GB is set aside for the GPU.
What can I do about the malformed shadows?
