New Eastern_Frisia_Islands Map

On behalf of Seppel I am posting a new map. So a big thanks for his valuable contribution and please find his post and download link

Hi everyone!

I realized that this map here still lies in the WIP section, I decided to create a thread here now, to offer it for download...

The map is meant as a small, fast loading dogfight and training map. The area is situated at the German North Sea coast between EMDEN and WILHELMSHAVEN.

It is a 1:1 scale with one exception. I "transfered" the island of Helgoland a little closer to the shore, to prevent a 70km over sea flight.

You will find the current, mostly small airfields, basing on Google Maps photographs.
As some users criticized that the airfields (with real length) were too short.

and as I learned in the Baltic_Sea-project, that a runway should have at least 800m to work with AI planes, I extended the small airfields to this length, except for Helgoland.

You will find small northern Germany villages with little harbors and an old coastal fortification, built in the times of WW I, which is nowadays a bird reservation. It is possible to install large cannons in the bunkers here, that can shoot at passing ships.

Finally, as a highlight you'll find the large NATO-airbases of WITTMUND and JEVER. These are ideal airbases for jet fighting.

But it seems not to work in BAT : map does not load. Instead, have blue screen.

On blue screen - try Shift-Tab.

Same problem with 'blue screen'; MAPS/_Tex/water/PacificBeachSurf.tga.
do not copy over the existing ones in _Tex, other maps won't work (like Rabaul 1944, etc..)

Hello,
I am playing BAT 4.2.2 Hotfix 4
About this issue I have found that Pacificbeachsurf.tga. texture files is wrongly named with a .tga extension, It's actually a .tif file not a .tga one.
How I fix the issue: Using Irfanview free utility, I renamed this faulty texture with a  .tif extension and then I converted it into a .tga.
IN the log.txt there is also another faulty texture file "bob_forest_autumn_late.tga", I resized it to 120 X 120 pixels and saved it with Irfanview.

After these small changes, the Map loads fine in BAT JTW.
Do not forget to add the entries in the static.ini file...

Do NOT use the _Tex folder, that comes with the download in the first place.
First try to load the map as it is (respektivly add the HSFX-objects to BAT).

Rabaul_1944 use PacificBeachSurf.tga  in Load.ini, but if you remove file from MAPS/_Tex/water/PacificBeachSurf.tga Rabaul map works  ok !!?

Confirmed! Do not copy _Tex files form installation, only 3do and Eastern_Frisia.
Find-fix objects you need (static Boomer ...).
For FlakTower I use Water_Tower.

Can anyone upload  FlakTower object ?

I am a user on 4.12.2m, BAT 4.0

For me, 'PacificBeachSurf', 'CoastBumpNoiseDimas' files are not correct TGA files.

So I changed both files to the correct TGA file using the Internet file conversion utility 'Convertio' as advised above by ansons.

    * tiff - bmp (using Windows' paint board) - TGA (using Convertio)

After that, The map now seems to be working properly.

However, I don't know if the image quality deteriorated during the conversion process of the files

what game version do you use?
The map was built with a MapBuilder based on HSFX 6.0.3 and works also in my BAT.
The object "FlakTower" is available in both versions.

I can extract the object, but it will take some time...
