 I also tried to reconstruct this event so I would like to compare and eventually come up with something better than my old attempt.

In the process of editing before digital the actual film itself was cut and
spliced ( glued back together ) into the actual film a viewer would
see , hence the term "cut". ( Audio would be transposed onto a film of the
same dimension as the visual ,  16mm , 35mm etc as well. Each scene was then
"synched" scene by scene so that the audio and visual images were
synchronized.)

So , when I say one of my skins made the cut , it simply means
it made the ( final ) edited film .

Ah well, what did you mean by the cut, thanks again for the clarification Kopfdorfer, well basically I don't understand anything about films cut and put back together, my job is fixing agricultural machinery... I could tell you how to fix a tractor but no more I can... Thanks again for your valuable advice 😉
