This is a call for support.
After discovering a set of serious compass related issues in the stock game, in the ultrapack 3 RC airplanes and in lots of the subsequently added aircraft from later versions and patches, I decided to rework all cockpits in order to bring the compass implementation to the same level all across the board.
Unfortunately though, while the code is similar (if not the same) for all airplanes, their 3D is not.
Hence, there's a plethora of things that might happen in relation to the compass now.
This is where your part of the deal becomes important:
I need volunteers to test
all airplanes, by quickly rotating them around on the ground a bit (simple QMB ground spawn on any map will do) and check whether the compass behaves correctly.
By (temporarily) installing the test patch found below, you get all the planes in their latest implementation, plus a certain set of test features:
- Control Input (Rudder, Elevator (not available on ground) and Aileron (not available on ground) directly rotate the plane accordingly.
- The plane won't move forward/backward, left/right, up/down, even if you airspawn.
- By toggling cockpit or nav lights, you toggle "realistic navigation mode", which is important for planes equipped with nav aids giving indication of e.g. the next waypoint.
What I would like to ask you for is to download the test patch below, put it in place in your Ultrapack game folder (if you fail here, you basically don't qualify for the test), and then:
- Reply which planes you are going to test.
This acts as kind of "reservation", so no other user is testing the same planes.
Please reserve planes for max. 3 days only, i.e. don't reserve 100 planes when it takes you 2 months to do it.
Just pick a chunk for 1~3 days each.
Post your chunk here. - After posting, start testing.
- Report back with your results.
One post for the whole chunk please, not 100 separate posts.
You don't win anything from becoming the top poster here. - Report should indicate e.g. "Me 262 A-1 all fine" (case of Me-262 in the video below), or "Me P.1101 outer and inner compass inverted" (see video below again) or "Ta 183 realistic nav not working, turns the same in both modes" (again, see video below).
If your log indicates errors during the test, please post them mentioning the plane being tested. - If you finished your test, check which chunks have been reserved by others and pick your next free 1~3 day chunk if you like.
