Question about skins credits
« on: July 23, 2023, 06:06:24 AM »

Hello!

It's a question I should have asked two years ago, but I think it's not too late now. If I work on a default void skin located in the airplane folder, do I have to specify something when I finish the template? I have seen that many skinner artists specify who did the internals or other details. Or are these made upon request? I wouldn't want to be disrespectful to the work of others, that's why I'm asking.

Thank you! All the best to everyone!

Basicly you can use up everything, if you Credit properly.

Internal or Skins on Requests, are from a Cooperation of Skinners or and Campaign Builders.
Depends. In past times there where Internal Templates available, alternatives
published. Some authors never published Templates. Dunno.

custom Default Skin in Plane folder (not published) } no Credit needed

Everything intended for Publication, yes, give Credits. If unsure ask,
90% can be tracked down.
if you refine a Template with parts of other Authors work, it's better

My experience was, always give or you end up like me,
getting stalked, mobbed by Prominent Skinners or their Fans.
They can ruin your career and have negative effects, which are hard to come by.
Can't recommend such mobbing, if you can avoid, bow to Community ethics.

If I don't have Credits, cause I can't find, I state,
unknown Author, if you know the author PM me and I'll add, Thanks...
It shows least respect (your intention not claiming) and you still care, even if not knowing.

Dunno what the others say

Best wishes to you
Tobias

Hello Tobias!

Thank you for your answer!
If I work on a template and use something from another template, I will specify the source or credit the one from the original template.
That's why I saw so many credits on a single template.

All the best! Stay safe!

The main Author Credit is important, nobody can go insane
over the Additional Credits each and every Template has or has not.

Additional Credits are not widely used on Templates, that's rare cases, sentimental,
personal reasons.

If you merge 2 Templates, best is give the two main Authors.

Happy skinning and good wishes
Tobias

The safest thing is to keep all the original credits from any template, right? On the void board I'm working on, those who worked on interiors, mechanical parts and even large rivets are already credited. I leave those credits untouched.

Strength and good health, Tobias!
