Blurry Radius Views...Any Fixes?
« on: January 23, 2023, 12:19:22 PM »

Hi there, the years have passed and thought I'd check in.  I do modelling and texture work for other sims, and have always been impressed by the legacy that IL-2 continues to leave.  However, the one showstopper for me was the horrible blurry radius on the views that exceeded some type of distance threshold.  I saw one talented individual was working on a mod to correct that, but not sure if it ever materialized into something significant.  So my question is, has anything changed regarding this issue?   :-[

Side note:  this is the worst anti-spam puzzle I've ever seen in my life.  I know you have to safeguard things, but my God is that a worm, or a fish, or what...?  LOL

If you're referring to the landscape texturing, "perfect" mode makes a nice difference. Although when you zoom in for a closeup view into the distance in good weather, there is a good amount of this blurring that is evident. Keep the FoV on the wider side, though, and things look pretty good to me.

Member slibenli has been developing a graphics extender (il2ge) over the past few years that does wonders for distance viewing. I don't use it (yet) and so cannot comment on the way more distant textures are rendered.

Anisotropic filtering anyone?
That's exactly what it's meant for.
16x AF comes at almost no FPS cost on contemporary GPUs these days.
