Proper Controls
« on: January 02, 2023, 11:42:23 PM »

What does a person actually need in order to fly the game, stick and throttle wise..

I have to replace mine, the enjoyable thing in Ukraine pretty much made getting anything very hard. ANd before i shell out money, i just need to know what i need to have as a minimum.

Thankies

I had the thrustmaster with hotas kit, and well i really did kill it from over use.

I managed to break the plastic ring that the ball socket rides in... and for some reason when i took the thing apart when it was no longer functional... i found one or two of the wires for the hat switch were not installed correctly.. Which explains why it would never work for me.

I was interested in the authentikit setup for accuracy and between the legs flight, i have some carpal tunnel issues, and well putting my hand on the top of the thrustmaster made it feel better for me.

And im just trying to figure the BASIC lowest cost setup as my flight inspirations are simply 1946 and perhaps wings over flanders fields if they make themselves nicer people.

Haha,

I know this problem very well! Only for IL-2 I wouldn't care but not for the most important thing in the world for me: I've been playing guitar for over 50 years.

Rudder control is important. While pedals are the best, you can get away with using a stick that twists for rudder control. Some sticks come with a little throttle wheel too.

I stayed with Thrustmaster HOTAS since the early days of Il-2. The first set survived 3 or 4 years but I played really hard at that time. The second one was still OK after 5 or 6 years when I donated it before moving to another place. Current HOTAS X doing well since...2012 I guess? Used not often and sometimes left untouched for weeks.
Not the most sturdy device, of course, but not expensive either. I considered moving to more "glorious" equipment several times but realised that it was overkill for me.
