Arado Ar196-A3 2nd Pack
« on: December 10, 2022, 08:16:22 AM »

:D    Well guys, in this lull in novelty production, while waiting for Santa's gifts, I thought I'd share with you these three skins of the Arado Ar196A-3 ,coming from WT, two captured in Russian and Japanese livery and the third in the boarding version on the battleship Bismarck. Always in double format and have fun!   ;)

Thanks for these, stan. I was thinking of requesting the japanese skins as two operated with the Monsun Gruppe in that livery.

Stan, hello. Immodest question. Did you happen to use my method? these skins are very similar to the skins from the game Warthunder. But maybe I'm wrong... ;)

Actually, the Hinomaru decor was used by German operated planes operating in Malaysia, out of Penanag for the German Pacific U-boat command.  It was considered wise to use this marking option to avoid confusion. I researched this secario some time ago, tracking this marking back to the Aux Cruiser Thor as far as 1941, who was operating against British shipping.

Stanislao, thanks for your work.
Regarding Russian Soviet Ar 196.
I was always intrigued by the history of this aircraft's deployment in the USSR. In particular, it has been used intensively across the Far East from Vladivostok to Kamchatka where it became a real "Scourge of the Pacific" (to borrow from W.Churchill) for the Japanese fishermen. Unfortunately, good-quality photos with insignias are rare.
This is what I managed to find: some historical pictures and one page from the book by V.Kotelnikov with two variants.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/r9ag6e9a9a4zklv/Ar_196_USSR.zip/file
According to Kotelnikov:
"Arado of the Soviet Borger Guard, according to the photos, were light grey above and light blue below or light grey all around. Insignia of 1943 standard (red stars with white-red edging) was placed on the fuselage, on the wing above and below and sometimes on the vertical stab. Tactical numbers in white were placed on the vertical stab."
Hope it's of interest.
Thanks again!

:D   Yes, dear Roman, the three skins come from War Thunder, like the previous ones, and have been adapted to Il2's mapping, with a few small additions... of course, if the 3D model comes from War Thunder it's easier, but the WT skinners are really fantastic and meticulous, so it's certainly worth it!   ;)
