Dear community,

Since I installed last AMD drivers 22.11.2, I cannot have openGL perfect landscape in IL2 1946 game. HardwareShaders always go back to 0 even when I change it manually to 1 in conf.ini.

I have a clean BAT 4.2.2 + hotfix 3 and no other mods.

It is an old DX9 game but it is still a very good flight simulator of WW2 Aircraft.

everything worked ok with previous AMD drivers 22.5.1.

Does somebody else encounter this problem.

My config is CPU 5900X, 32 G RAM, RADEON 6900XT GPU

I agree AMD 22.9 here no downgrade its lock. The solution for perfect mode conf.ini is not without having polygonal rectangles and squares in landscape. If 'perfect' means OpenGL full activation its just a matter of how one sees its perfection adjustment but my statement is relatively debatable.

22.5.2 is my version that works.

Actually, downgrading drivers is quite easy with AMD. You just need to get the file set, there's an setup.exe along with them that does the business for you.
There should be an "AMD" folder on your C drive. That holds all the drivers you ever downloaded.

Hi, I tested it so far and was not able to downgrade to Adrenaline 22.5 because when installing it, it says not the compatible with the driver version I have, mine is Radeon RX 570 series. Only upgrade to 22.11 is being presented in the settings then tweak its Adrenaline settings. These are the downloads of adrenaline from there website under RX 570 series: 22.5[except this one],  amd-software-adrenalin-edition-22.9.2-minimalsetup-220926_web, amd-software-adrenalin-edition-22.11.1-minimalsetup-221110_web, amd-software-adrenalin-edition-22.11.2-minimalsetup-221130_web,amd-software-pro-edition-22.q4-win10-win11-nov15 and amd-software-adrenalin-edition-22.9.2-win10-win11-sep27. Btw my driver was installed in drive D not C.

Thanks to all for your replies.

Effectivelly after several DDU drivers cleaning, it is confirmed that it is an AMD drivers problem so I revert back to 22.5.1.

If someone find a solution with the newest drivers 22.11.2, I will be happy but I keep with old ones. I have written on AMD web site. Hope they will take in account this issue.

I just did some experimentation by reverting my drivers from 23.3.1 (where perfect doesn't work) back to 22.5.2 and upgrading one driver version at a time. I...didn't get very far.

Driver version 22.6.1 allowed perfect landscape for me. 22.7.1 did not.

I have a 6900XT.

After running the game on 22.7.1 my conf.ini reverted "HardwareShaders=" from 1 to 0, and downgraded "LandGeom=" from 3 to 2 under the [Render_OpenGL] heading. The log also reported this:
