ARROWS on SCREENEDGE on IL2 1946 with BAT
« on: September 22, 2022, 08:48:57 AM »

Hi There,
im new and from Germany and im looking for someone who explains me how to activate the red and blue Arrows for Aircrafts that are offscreen! I've seem them on some other Forum discussions tolding to activate with Ctrl+F1 or editing the Confic.ini (arcade=1) - but nothing works for me! We talk about IL2 1946 + BAT-Mod. In IL2 Great Battles they are active from beginning. Is there any way to have them in IL2 1946?

Welcome!

BAT is like the normal game there.
Strg/Ctrl + F1 toggles through the cockpit views and one of them is with those arrows.

Just please, for the future: Don't make topics in all caps.
Unless you want to scream around, that is.

This did not work! Sorry for the bad message but its not working. Ctrl+F1 does nothing. Maybe its the false keybindung? Or have I to chance the setting "Cockpit everytime on" (or something called this?)

Nevermind! Found out its this option. But another question. is there a way to have these arrows in the virtual cockpit - it seems to be that these arrows are in every mode except inside the real cockpit. Is there a way to have them there too?

No, they don't work in the 'real' cockpit.

And is there maybe a Mod out there, what "fix" this?

Your question is interesting .. for twenty years I have always thought that the choice to remove the indicator lights function from the cockpit option was dictated by the fact that in reality, the pilots
they had no way of distinguishing friendly or enemy aircraft except for their ability to recognize their shapes. And it seemed right to me to accept this limitation ....   ;)

But I think to myself, since it's only a simulation, there should actually be some help. You can change the camera or the direction of view, but if the left hand is on the throttle and the right hand is on the control lever, which hand should adjust the direction of view? Then you could say that there is a knob on the joystick, but it doesn't cover every direction. VR glasses are too expensive and so the only option is to get help from colorful arrows. I'm also less interested in spotting all other planes or knowing their position. It would be more comfortable in a dogfight to be able to follow the one plane you're really screwed on.
