You also need to add the necessary lines to the all.ini file in the \#SAS\MAPMODS\MAPS directory. The map download readme should contain that information.

However, before you continue... I have already consulted my Ouija board and found that next you will post to say that you can see the map but cannot save anything to it. Then we will look at your log and send you off to locate objects that you are missing but that the map requires.

You are trying to turn your VP Modpack install into BAT Red Core. Why do that? Get BAT Red Core. It has this map. It has the planes you want, it probably has every mod/map you want, it takes less disk space than VP Modpack, it runs faster than VP Modpack. And when new mods of note appear BAT loads them for you in updates. VP Modpack is no longer supported as far as I can tell; BAT is heavily supported and updated here at this site. Just a suggestion.

Hi vonofterdingen

I have both VP Modpack and BAT installed and I've been doing Black Death track Benchmarks test with Fraps since BAT first came out, and the frame rate has always been better in VP Modpack.
My OpelBlitz fix helped a lot though, so the difference is not that big any more, but the min frame rate in BAT is still lower.
If you have a faster computer than mine, the difference in frame rate is probably negligible.

Example with the same settings used:
VP Modpack:
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
  8362,    145000,  25,  67, 57.669
BAT:
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
  7855,    145000,  17,  64, 54.172

Regarding the installation size my BAT WAW installation is about twice the size of VP Modpack:
BAT WAW (#WAW3, BAT00, BAT03 and BAT03B folders): 53GB
VP Modpack (#SAS folder): 25GB

Best regards

I find the frame rate better in VP Modpack vs BAT, as well.

My admittedly ancient rig will run VP Modpack without any slowdown at all until I have more than 16 planes in the air at one time, in one place. In BAT WAW, anything over 8 aircraft at a time and I get major loss of frame rate, and when the flak starts to fire the game is unplayable.

My BAT WAW 4.2.1 install is 73.2 GB in size, and my VP Modpack install is 43.9 GB.

However, I do really like some of the features in BAT that are not in any of the other IL-2 1946 installs I currently have. I have v4.07, v4.12.2, v4.13.4, YPack, VP Modpack, and BAT WAW 4.2.1.

Funny. That has not been my experience at all. I mostly use DCG with many planes, so that may be a factor. When BAT was new, VP was much better. However, as BAT evolved it has obtained much better performance than VP. So in my case, at least, BAT performs much better with individual missions with many aircraft. I have never paid much attention to the Black Death track.

My VP is 84 GB, so maybe I have just collected a lot of crapola over the years.

And Von Oben, that Opel Blitz fix has been a life saver over the years.

Took note of your suggestions thank you gentleman.
Indeed Vp modpack runs much better in my machine.

I made a mission with up to seventy planes, forty bombers, with no visible drag here it is:
