THX to captainChaos's eagle eye, we now have proof that there was at least one Bf109K-4 with Hartmann's nose tulip ...!
The question of knowing if Hartmann ever flew a K-4 has been going on and on, since there was no photographic proof, according to many historians and skinners ...
Here is what skinner friend RDDR wrote in the readme of his Deutsch Brod skin pack :
"Lastly, one fictitious K4 with Hartmanns markings.
There is no photographic evidence that Hartmann ever flew a K4.
If you look at the G14 Ewald skin, it was flown by not just Ewald but Hartmann, who chocked up a dozen or so missions and kills flying that aircraft.
In closing, its still all conjecture but we do know that JG52 had a number of K4's in the Squadron. If you were the top ace in the unit, it certainly is possible that you would be offered a brand new K isn't it. I guess we'll never know."Well, after searching for some time, I finally managed to find an original photo at Asisbiz, labeled :
"Messerschmitt Bf 109K4 Stab JG52 Erich Hartmann WNr 332529 Deutsch Brod Czechoslovakia May 1945 03"Given the bad quality of the photo, I wasn't even sure it depicted a K-4 ...
I sent it to captainChaos, who immediately replied this was a K-4 for sure, because of the missing fuselage hatch (higher and more forward that in other Bf109s like Hartmann's G-10 for ex ...)

Here, the same hatch, but on the K-4 (higher and one fuselage section closer to the cockpit) :
Well, although the Asisbiz photo shows the tulip painted on the engine cowling (probably black), there is no proof Hartmann ever flew this K-4, all the more since the black tulip was a trick used by the Germans, to make frightened Russian pilots think Hartmann was there ...
