109G-6AS/Erla nitro
« on: December 01, 2021, 05:14:28 PM »

Anyone know how to engage nitro on the 109G-6AS?
Neither full-throttle nor WEP seems to have an effect (BAT 4.2). Haven't found any special instructions, AFAIK it should engage with full-throttle? NG HUD shows nitro: 100%, any ideas?

O.K. same problem with the Erla.
G10 has functional MW50 as WEP. Me thinks this might be a bug? Can anyone confirm?

I have mine mapped to the W key - Boost (WEP) On/Off. Its listed at the top of the engine section in the controls. Verified it works and draws from the 100% in the HUD. Nice little boost in speed too!

That's exactly what I have, and as stated works fine with the BF109 G-10.
Does NOT work with the BF109G-6AS or the BF109G-Erla.
Can you confirm functional WEP with the all the above models in BAT 4.2?

G10 and G10 Erla worked ok, but not the G-6AS.

I vaguely recall a similar discussion a while ago.

Apparently all the advanced G6 are using the DB605 AS engine, which had no MW-50 from the onset,  just the bigger turbo. From how I recall it (vaguely....) this is what the standard equipment was supposed to be like, so a choice made by the makers of the Bf-109 package.
The fact that you can "see" a nitro load may be a left over checkbox in the fmd, which never was visible and may be thought inconsequential back then. Only the NG HUD made it visible.

Only the DB-605 ASM comes with the MW-50 and is used in the G10 variants and onwards, as this became standard outfit by then.

example:
Bf-109 G6 AS uses flightmodel  "Bf-109G-6ASN.fmd"
This fmd contains a nitro entry - which basically means, this fmd can be paired with a WEP-capable emd engine file.

But in our case, it uses "DB-605_Reeks.emd / DB605AS", which is eaxcly as I said, the non-WEP basic variant of the engine

That´s right.
109 Gustav 6 A/S with MW 50 only in the Vanilla game.

O.K. Thanks guys!
NG HUD shows a lot of very useful information, for the not fully in the know, maybe sometimes a little too much!
And apologies for necro-questioning, wasn't that long ago: September 15, 2019. SAS~Storebror:

The Bf 109 G-6/AS uses the altitude optimized DB 605 AS engine, which has no MW-50.
MW-50 is demarked with an "M" attached to the DB 605 A series engine names.
The corresponding DB 605 AM engine was used on the Bf 109 G-14 and the DB 605 ASM on the Bf 109 G-14/AS.

Please note that due to the chaotic cirumstances in the 109 late war production, there have been quite a few late G-6 planes equipped with DB 605 D series engines (but without MW-50), as well as a good share of the Bf 109 G-14(/AS) production batch.
