Siren collection
« on: November 09, 2021, 09:10:36 AM »

I've collected some quality siren sounds that you can choose from and put in your game

As long as we don't have multiple siren objects that use their own different sound, you'll have to choose which one you like

UPDATE
marcost made separate objects for these sounds
Here's the link from Reply #5
https://www.mediafire.com/file/puw35lacwcr3owk/%2521_MC_New_Sirens_rev.7z/file

You don't need to download the sounds separately and choose now with this mod

The pack contains 5 sirens
  • Hand cranked - Good for ww1 themed missions like DoF for BAT or for airfields
  • E57 - German siren used in WW2 and the Cold War. Good for use in WaW and JTW
  • WW2 city - E57 sound with additional german/european sirens simulating cities and industrial areas
  • ECN3000 - Modern electric siren used as a generic sound. Good for cold war and modern day themed missions for JTW. It is used in many countries today
  • Original carter - The original Carter siren sound used since the existence of Il-2.

Just remove the type name of your chosen sound to make the file name ground_siren and then put it into the samples folder of whatever soundmod you use

A short demo of the WW2 city siren

Download (sounds only): https://www.mediafire.com/file/vjxjkqg5nst1ca5/Ground_sirens.zip/file

Note: These are loud (as they should be). If there are no planes, explosions or other sounds around, these can be faintly heard even from 10s of kilometers away

I take no credit for the sounds themselves. I collected them from the internet and some stored sfx folders of mine over time (also collected from the internet)
It's made under the DWTFYWWI license

All credit due, I've spent ages looking for a pack like this. Always wanted the right sirens.

Hi Atoka,

I like your collection, thank you.

I made the game objects for each type of siren sound

***New link in first post***

Made in 4.12, but I suspect they will work in previous versions

Hope they work for you.

Ah you did it!
Great, now we can have hand cranked sirens on airfields and the other ones in cities if needed (with some variety to them) ;D
I always wanted a mod like this, but I have no idea where to even start
I'll add the link in the first post

Edit: Winrar says "potentially dangerous content has been blocked" when I try to open the add to stationary.ini file
If it happens, you can view it by right clicking on it, and clicking on View file, or pressing Alt+V

It's the same with 7z!
The cause is simple: it's the crazy name given to the file!

Very good choice of sounds.

Back in the 60 there would be air-raid siren tests every Thursday at noon where I lived. In one way it gave me the creeps because of all the stories I'd heard from my mother and grandparents about bombing raids during WWII. On the other hand it gave me thrills too, like being in a war movie.

These sounds remind me of back then. Tnx ...

Just a question.

I installed the siren sounds and all works well. I fly overhead in an enemy plane and the sirens started sounding. Except that they don't seem to be loud enough. I can't hear anything inside the cockpit, which i suppose is maybe normal and realistic, but even when doing an F3 flyby and viewing from outside the cockpit, they are very faint and can only be heard once the plane has travelled a ways off and the engine sounds are fading.

Perhaps less realistic, but more atmospheric would be if they were louder ...

Is there a way to fix that?

 :D
Sirens are meant to be heard on the ground!
They are not intended to be heard from inside aircraft flying at 500m altitude.
Start a scramble mission with a siren close to you...
